MAHWAH, NJ (Sept. 5, 2024) – Volvo Car USA and Canada sold 11,498 cars in August, down 2.3 percent over the same period last year. Sales of electrified models — those with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain — increased 48.2 percent compared with the same month last year and accounted for 38.3 percent of sales in August. Year to date, sales of electrified models are up 15.5 percent versus the first eight months of 2023, and accounted for a 33.3 percent share of sales.
Sales in the US reached 10,420 in the month of August, down 2.1 percent over the same period last year. Sales of electrified models increased 47.1 percent over the same period last year and accounted for 37.7 percent of total sales.
Sales in Canada reached 1,078 cars in August, down 4.1 percent over the same period last year, with electrified models increasing 17.2 percent compared to the same period last year, representing 43.9 percent of total sales for the month.
In the US, the XC90 midsize luxury SUV was the top selling model with 2,979 cars sold during August, followed by the XC60 compact luxury SUV (2,799 cars) and the XC40 small luxury SUV (2,474 cars).
