Tankersley, UK – H&H Classics held its last Cambridgeshire auction for 2024 and signed off in style with ‘star’ cars finding new homes.
The auction was held at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford, on Wednesday 9th October, and achieved total sales of more than £3 million ($3.9 million), with nearly 100 collectable cars successfully sold.

This included a 2001 Aston Martin Vanquish, the first car to drive down the M6 Toll road to commemorate its opening, and also used by Pierce Brosnan and EON Productions to promote the James Bond film ‘Die Another Day’, being sold for £52,900 ($68,750).
James McWilliam, sales manager at H&H Classics, said: “The appeal of the UK’s most famous secret agent appears stronger than ever.
“It was also going to perform well, especially when coupled with the fact this Aston Martin has played an important role in the country’s motoring history with its M6 Toll road connection.”

Meanwhile, another car with celebrity links, a 1967 Jaguar Mk X 4.2, purchased by world-famous singer Madonna for use by her son Rocco, went under the hammer. It bore the scars of London traffic and was offered without reserve, fetching £10,350 ($13,450).
James said: “Stars don’t come much bigger than Madonna, so it was fantastic that the Jaguar with such a close link to the Queen of Pop hit the right note with bidders.”
Another standout result was a 1969 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI Limousine which sold for £81,650 ($106,100), which is £46,650 ($60,650) over its lower estimate. It was one of just 374 Phantom VIs manufactured.

Other notable results include a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 190SL which was hammered away for £172,500 ($224,250), which was £22,500($29,250) over its lower estimate, and a 1939 Frazer Nash-BMW 327/80 Cabriolet, just one of 19 made, which fetched £149,500 ($194,350), which was £19,500 ($29,350) over its lower estimate.

The decidedly elegant 1930 Bugatti Type 46 Weymann Coach and well restored 1967 Aston Martin DB6 both sold within their respective estimates of £300,000 ($390,000) – £350,000 ($455,000) and £250,000($325,000) – £300,000($390,000) shortly after the auction.
Additionally, a 1932 Lagonda 2-Litre Low Chassis Speed Model Supercharged Tourer, fetched an impressive £88,550 ($115,113), which is £18,550($24,500)over its lower estimate.
