  • The SF90 was written off and banned from registration anywhere in Australia.
  • According to the auction house, there’s overseas interest in the wrecked Ferrari.
  • A pristine example like this one is worth well over $1 million in the country.

There’s something endlessly fascinating about high-powered machines meeting unfortunate fates, especially when those machines happen to cost more than most houses. The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is one of the most impressive supercars on the market, packing 986 hp from a twin-turbocharged V8 and three electric motors.

But as it turns out, all that cutting-edge engineering doesn’t help much when gravity decides to get involved. Last year, an SF90 driver in Perth, Australia managed to flip the car. Now, that very same wrecked Ferrari is up for auction.

Available through a salvage yard Down Under on behalf of an insurance company, this SF90 includes the Assetto Fiorano package, which adds a lightweight exhaust, more carbon fiber parts, and updated dampers. It looks just the same as it did when it was photographed on its roof last July, although these images do provide us with a better look at the damage done.

Unsurprisingly, the car has been written off by the insurer and cannot be re-registered in any Australian state or territory, even if it’s repaired. However, it could be converted into a track car, or someone from overseas may decide to purchase it, repair it, or break it up an sell it for parts.

Pretty much every panel appears to have been damaged. The front bumper has been scuffed, and the passenger-side front quarter panel has been badly dented. Both of the wing mirrors have also been torn off, and the engine cover and rear decklid smashed. Unsurprisingly, the roof has also caved in, and there’s also heavy structural damage to the A- and B-pillars, as well as the front and rear suspension on the passenger side.

The listing doesn’t mention how many miles are on the odometer, presumably because there’s no way of turning on the car now that the airbags have been deployed. It’ll likely need to have the pyro fuse replaced before it gets any power, and even then, there’s no guarantee the hybrid 4.0-liter V8 will start.

Still, if you think there’s an opportunity buried in this wreckage, whether as a parts haul, a track-day experiment, or just a very expensive conversation piece, you can head over to the Autorola auction over here and see where the bidding takes you. At the time of publishing, with 14 days remaining, the highest bid stands at AU$75,000 (around US$50,000).
