Display is showing engine and anti-spin needs service or something to that effect and it’s running in limp mode.
It’s clearly also leaking some diesel on the return around what I assume is injector 4.
… I understand that there might be other issues at play here but this is what I’ve been able to ferret out. I have access to a Super J2534 device and Vida/DASH although I’m no mechanic and a super rookie with these tools.
Error codes I got AFTER resetting them all and turning on the car and running it (in limp mode):
ECM-P126400: Cylinder 4 High To Low Side Short.
ECM-P037D00: Glow Plug Sense Circuit
BCM-U040100: Invalid Data Received from ECM/PCM A
Before I cleared the codes there were hints that injectors 1 and 2 where at max compensation (I interpret this as them being about to fail as well). Most likely all 4 injectors will have to be replaced in the near future.
If I understand it correctly replacing an injector is not rocket science as long as they’re not completely stuck in their wells. I’m no mechanic so I would most likely not be trying this myself.
To code the injectors I should be very capable to do with my knowledge and skills but to my understanding the injector adaptation REQUIRES the correct software to already be on the ECU? From what I can tell it’s not there and I reckon getting a dealer to just install it for me close to zero (I’m in Sweden)
In theory I should be able to let a deal install, code and calibrate 1 injector and then do the rest myself? Am I guaranteed that the software will be left on the ECU?
I haven’t had the car and it’s already cost me an arm and a leg (clutch gave out after 2 hours…). I’ve got an estimate to replace 1 injector at the dealer and replacing all 4 is simply not gonna happen for that kind of money.
I’m considering letting the car go to just someone who can fix it and have it out of my life but part of me just feels like I should be able to get a bunch of old injectors from the scrap yard and just do the coding and hope it doesn’t need any adaptation at all. I’ve actually read one anecdote of this working but I don’t know if it was for the same engine.
Injector adaptation seems to be one of the biggest hurdles because it requires someone with a proper vida license to install it and there doesn’t seem to be a way around this unless there are some tried and true cheapskate options I’ve missed? =)
