Hello form Greece,

in the next few days i will buy a 2004 Volvo s60 P2 2.0T.

Former (and totally disappointed from its reliability) owner of an Audi A4 B8, I took a break from sedans buying an opel astra twintop but decided to return to 4door due to family reasons.

The volvo seems to be in fair good condition with around 115.000 miles (190.000km) kept in garage well serviced and maintained by his (old enough) first owner.

Owners age probably is responsible for some small scratches at bumpers and rear fender and Greek sun for totally grey bumper black trims.

The interior is in a quite good condition at first look, the leather seats needs to have a deep cleaning, gear and handbrake leather are heavily worn and the center console especially the cupholders cover is almost broken.

I have noticed some other minor defects (headlight wipers, burnt paint at roof “rails”) and some things that i have to retrofit, such as isofix bracket etc.

Dissappointed by cd and cassete player headunit that reminds that we are talking for a 20 years old car.

Thats where we begin.

Due to my car mod virus, i have already bought:

A center console from P2 facelift model (this with sliding, not opening cover) to replace the worn one

Isofix brackets in order to have safer child seat mounted

I have ordered and untill Monday I will have a 7 inch headunit fascia and an android headunit, rear parking sensors (but i think i will install a rear view camera) and headlight wipers.

As far as i have seen the bumper trims are maintained with heat gun but though i have seen some diy videos where the work is done with the parts on the car, i think it will be better to take them off in order not to ruin the paint. I suppose that the front one are easy to unclip without remove the bumper, do you have any idea if for the rear i have to remove the bumper? If i cannot avoid it i will probably add the parking sensors too.

Isofix retrofit and console swap seems to be easy (in A4 i had disassembled and retrofitted almost everything i could in the interior, so i hope it wouldn t be much harder here).

Critical question about retrofitting:
As far as i understand the wiring exists for may optional accessories and just need to install the right parts and code them in order to work??

I have already spotted a seat of electric adjustable and heated seats in a junkyard. Luckily seems to be from 04 model, so it should fit. Unluckily the leather is heavily worn at least in drivers side, so the project is to keep the electrical equipment, strip both sets (mine and “new”) and put my leather cover over the electrical set. I have read many different scenarios, from cases that it didnt work at all, to cases that it was plug and play after the coding.

Is there anyone who could help with that??

I suppose that even if memories does not work, i could give power from external wiring so the seats could move. With the seats i will buy the a/c console with heated seat buttons. is there anything else you could suggest i should buy in order to have the project completed??

I haven’t noticed if there are footwell lights under the seats, was that in standard equipment, in optional or it didn’t exist at all so i should add something from scratch??

Last (for today) but not least,
Since i will have seats, center console, climate and headunit removed is there any mod or retrofit, you would suggest?

As you can imagine, i have hundreds of questions (bigger brakes, f/l mirrors, headlights, bodykit etc but i will try to take one (or two, or max three) steps at a time…

Thank you for your patience and I hope I will have something to show you soon.
