VinFast has announced it will be at this year’s Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), which takes place from July 4 to August 3. The Vietnamese carmaker has chosen the event to introduce a “brand-new right-hand drive model to Indonesian consumers,” further expanding its line-up in the country.

Based on a teaser posted on social media a few days ago, the model is the VF7, a C-segment electric SUV that first made its global debut at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January 2022. A right-hand drive version of the VF7 was previously presented by VinFast at last year’s Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS).

The previous RHD model that made its way to Indonesia was the VF6 (B-segment SUV), which went on sale in May 2025 with a starting price of 396,995,000 rupiah (about RM104k). Referring to VinFast Indonesia’s official website, other available models include the VF3 (compact SUV), VFe34 (C-segment SUV) and VF5 (A-segment SUV).

On the model to be presented at the upcoming GIIAS, the VF7 measures 4,545 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, 1,636 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,840 mm. In the Philippines (a left-hand drive market) where it is already on sale, the EV is offered in two variants that feature lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries.

The base Eco has a 59.6-kWh unit for a WLTP-targeted range of 498 km and is paired with a front electric motor rated at 204 PS (201 hp or 150 kW) and 250 Nm of torque. The 0-100 km/h time for this is around 10-11 seconds, while the top speed is 150 km/h.

Next up is the Plus that has a larger 75.3-kWh battery and two electric motors for all-wheel drive as well as a total system output of 354 PS (349 hp or 260 kW) and 500 Nm. With the added oomph, the Plus completes the century sprint in 5.8 seconds, while offering a higher top speed of 175 km/h and range of 496 km.

In its home market of Vietnam, the VF7 comes in three options, starting with the Eco that has a 59.6-kWh battery, front electric motor with 177 PS (174 hp or 130 kW) and 250 Nm and up to 498 km of range (NEDC).

It is followed by the Plus with a 75.6-kWh battery, a more powerful front electric motor with 204 PS (201 hp or 150 kW) and 310 Nm and an undisclosed amount of range. Lastly, there’s the Plus AWD, also with a 75.6-kWh battery but with dual electric motors rated at 354 PS (349 hp or 260 kW) and 500 Nm – the range is 496 km (NEDC).
