Last week, the YouTube channel Savage Geese dropped a nearly 1-hour technical deep dive into the 2025 Corvette ZR1 and its special twin-turbocharged LT7 engine. Jack and Mark spent several days at GM’s Milford Proving Ground to capture all that footage and it really is something that every Corvette enthusiast should watch.
So, we were a bit surprised when we saw a new video from Savage Geese on the LT7 cross our feed today. Because not everyone might have the ability to sit and watch their original video, The Geese decided to make a more manageable video featuring Chevy Small Block Assistant Chief Engineer Dustin Gardner doing a walkaround of a very special LT7 motor.
This motor that you see on the crate was signed by many of the personnel who worked on it. Dustin explains that it was one of the later development engines, but it was among the first to be built in the plant. One of the reasons why its special is that it was the engine that was used for the SAE power certification tests. On the photo below, you can see that it was signed with the SAE power certification of 1,064-horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque, as well as the date of 4/15/20204 which is when the test was conducted.
