When it comes to building Corvette restomods, no one has gained more name recognition in recent years than Jeff Hayes. The Indiana resident has risen in provenience and is well-known in the collector car market for his fantastic builds selling for mega bucks at Barrett-Jackson auctions. This year at the Scottsdale auction held in January, Jeff brought with him two new Corvette restomods for sale and they are the perfect bookends of the fabulous C2 era.
The first is a 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe painted in shimmering Bianca Fuji which is a Ferrari factory color. Under the hood is a GM Performance LS3 Hot Cam engine with 540 horsepower that’s been mated to a 4L70E automatic transmission. The ’63 rides on an Art Morrison chassis while inside the driver and passenger are treated to a luxurious cabin that Hayes does so well.

The 1967 Corvette Convertible Restomod is the matching bookend of the C2 generation and it features the same Bianca Fuji paint and same power train featuring the LS3 as well. Inside are the same rich Camel leather seats, as well as a chrome steering column and a custom mahogany steering wheel.
These two Corvettes were offered individually with the ’67 Corvette first to cross the block. Rick Hendrick showed some interest in early, but then it was purchased by another buyer for the $850,000 hammer price. The same buyer then tried to buy the ’63 Corvette Split Window to create the matching set, but Rick Hendrick entered the fray once again and purchased the ’63 at the $900,000 hammer price. With the commissions, both Corvettes sold for a combined $1,925,000.
From Barrett-Jackson via YouTube:
There’s something undeniably exhilarating about the roar of a finely tuned engine, the glint of polished chrome and the smooth lines of a Resto-Mod. Now, imagine that doubled. Meet not one, but two stunning examples of the second-generation @Chevrolet C2 Corvette ‒ a 1963 Split-Window and a 1967 convertible ‒ both masterfully transformed by Jeff Hayes Customs. Completed in September 2024, these two Bowtie beauties fuse the iconic design language of 1960s Corvettes with the cutting-edge performance of modern muscle, creating a rolling tribute to style, speed and craftsmanship.
