Once upon a time, the owner of this 1967 Corvette Convertible spent a lot of money converting it to a Pro-Tour style car, complete with an aftermarket chassis with a Detroit Speed suspension, an LS engine swap, and digital gauges. The car’s ride height had also been lowered and it features some really large aftermarket wheels.
It must have been a real stunner before it was flooded during Hurricane Helene last September, and now the guys at Horsepower Depot are attempting to resurrect the car by getting it cleaned up and running once again. Last month they worked on a similar car which was a 1972 Corvette that was flooded by Hurricane Milton, and they were able to get that car going, so we don’t doubt that they can work their magic on this 1967.
Unlike that 1972 Corvette, this 1967 Corvette appears to have had more water in the car and one of the fuseboxes is shown to be corroding due to being wet. After draining water from the powertrain and wiring in a new starter, they finally got power back to the car. With some additional troubleshooting, they were able to get the engine running once again.
The next day, they pulled the wheels off the car and go to work with a power washer to try to remove the salt and other contaminates from the underbody. Fortunately, it cleaned up very nice with only a few small reminders that it was actually a flood car. Once the mechanicals were addressed, the HD crew then worked on the interior of the car with their plans to pull the carpet out and possibly move the seats back a bit.
The team is looking for any information about the car’s history, and they are hoping to reconnect with the previous owner or the shop that built it. Let them know if you have any details about this ’67 Pro-Tour Corvette.
