V50 2.0D – Oil Rising Problem | SwedeSpeed

Hey guys!

After getting some help and resolving my gauge problem I now have another issue that I would like to get help with your knowledge!

I have a V50 with the 2.0 Diesel 136hp engine and in the span of 4 weeks everything kinda went down. The engine is has 170000km(105000 miles), the body 353000 km (220000 miles).

First my engine did a run-away a few weeks ago while going in holidays, I had checked the oil level a few weeks back and it was nearly at max so I didnt check again before going on a 500 km (300 miles) trip.

The engine didnt had the time to rev up past 4000 rpm as I knew imediately what hapenned, put the 6 gear and stalled it after 5/10sec.

Cleaned the intercooler, removed a mixture of oil and diesel from the engine, about 6L (1.5L gal).

(yeah all the other guests thought I was a maniac doing this at a hotel)

Engine started again without any noise appart from the blue smoke (probs the cat was full of oil).

Came back home safely checked oil again after 1000km (600miles) everything was fine and tbh the engine ran even better than before even using way less fuel.

I now check the oil regularly and the levels are rising every trips to the point where its at full again and I am going to have to remove some oil from the engine after (1000 miles).

The engine always has smoked a bit white on heavy acceleration but there is never any power loss and it does feel like around 130hp.

The car also has those weird waves of shaking when cruising in 2/3/4 gears at low speed, not noticeable on VIDA turbo pressure, fuel pressure, dpf pressure charts (I reproduced those shaking while having VIDA running in graph mode) I suspect a CV Joint that is bad.

The car at highway speed has this consumption weird behaviors where on flat surface it stabilizes to 5.7L/100km (41mpg) then spikes to 7L/100km (33mpg) for maybe like 20 sec then goes back to normal.

Here is what I checked so far :

– With Vida the DPF pressure sensor, 0 hpa standing still, 18 hpa max at full rev with load (actually driving).

– Turbo is a bit noisy but I am getting it replaced with a new one soon.

– Coolant level is stable and the car doesnt overheat even on the autobahn at limiter (210 kmh / 130 mph)

I love that car its my first Volvo and I really just want to use it more but pin-pointing an issue is not that easy especially one like that. I would have rather had a massive oil leak but know where its from than having oil level rising ahah!

I always did everything myself on all my cars so going to a garage is out of the question. I just like the DYI vibes.

If you have any idea / need pics from vida / the car I can do that!
