Tuner Turns C8 Corvette Into Fighter Jet

Tuner Turns C8 Corvette Into Fighter Jet

The Motor1 email inbox receives tips, press releases, and pitches of “groundbreaking” new vehicles on a daily basis. Almost all of that is vaporware, and to be honest, we usually let it pass without a mention. But sometimes, something so absurdly crazy comes through the wire that we simply can’t let it pass. That’s why you’re looking at a C8 Corvette with F-18 tail fins, afterburners, and fake missiles.

Is this some kind of drunk double-dare gone bad? According to the email we received, the renderings depict a car called the Mxtrem Maverick. It’s designed by a new European-based company called Mxtrem Automobili, and well, it’s a road-going jet figther. Or at least, it pretends to be since afterburners and missiles are neither practical nor remotely legal.

We’d love to tell you all about it, but the Mxtrem’s press release is, shockingly, devoid of details. The company calls the Maverick a “super car with wings, big jet engines and missiles that would even make James Bond envious.” Apparently, each car will be tailor-made to suit the specific tastes of the buyer, though they probably don’t want to get too crazy. Mxtrem claims it “took us a few years” to perfect the Maverick’s design. We bet.

Aside from the excessive exterior add-ons, the jet fighter experience continues inside with a yoke replacing the steering wheel. The C8’s center console gets a red toggle switch, a red dial, some unidentified control shaped like an SU-27, and then the Maverick’s pièce de résistance—an actual flight stick. What does it do? We’re not entirely sure.

Mxtrem Automobili claims 12 Mavericks will be made, and the first few build slots are already filled. The first customer deliveries are scheduled for December, but at this point, there isn’t even a prototype yet. That will allegedly come in May. We aren’t holding our breath.

Mxtrem’s website doesn’t offer any details about the company. There is, however, a form that prospective Maverick buyers can fill out. The company wants to know about your car collection, events you go to, and “your social media presence.” You know, critical things to weed out the wanna-be road pilots from real enthusiasts.

Will we ever actually see a Maverick in real life? The answer is almost certainly no. But kudos to Mxtrem for pegging the top of our insano-aftermarket car meter with the weirdest Corvette of all time.
