SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Electric & Gas Industries Association’s Contractor University, in partnership with Paul Kelly, a veteran of the HVAC and plumbing industries, has launched Raising GOATs, a business training program designed to help home services contractors become one of the greatest of all time.

Registration is open for the inaugural Raising GOATs event, scheduled for Monday, Oct. 20, through Friday, Oct. 24, at the Hilton Scottsdale Resort & Villas in Scottsdale, Arizona.

This program is limited to 20 participants, ensuring each attendee receives personalized guidance and coaching from Kelly and a team of accomplished business owners and acclaimed trainers, an EGIA press release said. Raising GOATs combines the five-day kickoff experience with ongoing, year-round support and training content, equipping contractors with the mindset, skills, and strategies needed to achieve success in their businesses, the press release said.

In addition to Kelly, the program features insights and instruction from other celebrated industry leaders, including author and speaker Mark Matteson, Chris Yano of RYNO Marketing, and Tommy Mello, founder and CEO of A1 Garage Door.

“As others have done with me, I’m sharing — the strategies, systems, and even the mistakes — that helped grow Parker & Sons from a $7 million business to over $250 million,” said Kelly. “I want contractors who are hungry to reach that next level to walk away with the knowledge and confidence to achieve what I have — and more.”

Participants will learn actionable strategies for thinking more critically, operating more efficiently, and leading their teams with clarity and confidence, the press release said. From mastering financial management and pricing strategies to improving recruiting, retention, and company culture, Raising GOATs takes a deep dive into the core skills and habits that set the most successful contractors apart, the press release said.

“Paul is one of the most successful and influential contractors in the history of our industry,” said Bruce Matulich, CEO of EGIA. “This program is a rare opportunity for contractors to learn directly from someone who has built historic success from the ground up, and to apply those lessons to create their own legacy.”
