Italian Soul, American Heart: A Timeless Coachbuilt RWD Manual V10 Coupe
The relationship between Alfa Romeo and Zagato goes back over a century, and that legacy lives on to this day as the two Italian companies continue to collaborate on cars like the Alfa Romeo Doppiacoda, which was just unveiled at the 2025 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este last week. Where that car was a one-off, Zagato made nine examples of the Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale back in 2010 and 2011, and this pristine example that is now up for sale is Chassis #5.
Conceived to honor the 100th anniversary of Alfa Romeo, the TZ3 Stradale draws inspiration from the Tubolare race cars of the 1960s, hence the name TZ (Tubolare Zagato). Design highlights include the long nose, an impossibly low roofline with wraparound glass and Zagato’s signature double-bubble roof, a Kammtail section at the rear, along with side exhaust pipes and those polished wheels. This particular 2010 example is finished in a striking shade of Dark Blue Metallic and has just 1,863 miles on the clock. The car spent most of its life in a collection based out of Arizona. While most of the TZ3 Stradale’s were finished in red, only two are believed to have donned blue.

Open the clamshell hood and you’ll find an 8.4-liter V10 that produces 640 horsepower. It’s the same engine found in the Dodge Viper ACR-X. Power is routed exclusively to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. 60 mph comes up in just over three seconds, and top speed is rated at north of 200 mph. In the age of EV this and Hybird that, a car like the TZ3 Stradale is all about a back-to-basics performance, and better still, it’s wrapped in a lightweight coach-built carbon-fiber body hand-made in Italy.
A tubular space frame chassis, four-wheel independent suspension, and ventilated discs ensure that this beauty handles and stops as well as it looks. Inside, the cabin takes a minimalist approach. There’s no excess or infotainment screen, just a driver-focused cockpit clad in high-end tan leather and Alcantara finishes. A numbered plaque marks this car’s significance, reminding you that you’re sitting in something truly bespoke.
Exclusivity drives values in the collector car world, and with only nine TZ3 Stradales ever made, most of which are tucked away in private car collections around the world, opportunities to acquire such rare cars don’t come around that often. Chassis #5 has all the hallmarks of a collector car, a well-documented, low-mileage coach-built automobile with provenance.
