This serves an important reminder about how cautious pedestrians should be near roads

- It’s unclear why the woman was walking on the road and not on the sidewalk.
- Had the HR-V not taken the hit, the female pedestrian could have been run over.
- Remarkably, the woman appears to have escaped the close call without even a scratch.
Sidewalks are meant to allow pedestrians to be safely separated from cars on the road. However, the woman in this video doesn’t appear to understand how to use a sidewalk and as a result, was almost rear-ended by a wayward pickup truck in Brazil in late February. If she hasn’t already tried to cash in on her luck and buy a lottery ticket, she should.
The near-miss shows the woman walking around the left of a white Honda HR-V which is parked on the right side of the road. Initially, it seems she may be the driver of the SUV and walking around it to get to the driver’s door, but she trundles past it without a care in the world. As this is happening, a small silver pickup comes into view and is shown coming straight towards the woman.

However, the pickup slams into the rear of the Honda, pushing the white SUV forward while flipping the pickup onto its side before it rolls onto its roof and lands back on its wheels. Remarkably, the woman was not hit by either car. Had the HR-V not been there to take the impact of the pickup and ricocheted it back onto the road, the female could have been seriously injured or killed if she had been hit.
We’re not sure if this was pure luck or some kind of divine intervention, but hopefully, it’s a wake-up call to the woman to actually use sidewalks when they’re available rather than absentmindedly walking along the edge of the road without looking behind.
