- A bank robber is going viral for his unusual choice of getaway car.
- The thief fled in a Rolls-Royce Cullinan after stealing just $3,400.
- He rented the luxury SUV for $1,750 per day and is on the run.
Bank robbers often choose big, expensive and powerful all-wheel drive cars as getaway vehicles, though picking a Rolls-Royce SUV is certainly a new one on us. But that’s exactly what one thief did, and craziest of all, he even paid $1,750 a day in rental fees to make it happen.

Metro Detroit man Dorian Sykes is currently wanted by authorities after being identified as a suspect involved in two bank robberies this month, which netted him a paltry $13,000. The first attack was at the Credit Union One branch in Sterling Heights on March 6, when Sykes allegedly escaped with $10,169.

Six days later, on March 12, he is believed to have walked into Chase Bank in Lathrup Village where he passed the teller a note that made it crystal clear what was happening.
“Give me all the money, I have a gun, I will kill everyone,” the note read, according to a Fox2 Detroit report.
But “all the money” turned out to hardly any money at all. The suspect fled with just $3,400 – not even enough to cover two days’ rental of the Cullinan getaway car that was waiting outside.
The Rolls was rented from Sam Zahar of Southfield’s Dream Luxury Car Rental, who know nothing about the Cullinan’s life of crime until he recognized it in a social media video. This is the same rental agency that recently had a Rolls Ghost go missing during transport from Florida after hackers changed the delivery address.
The Cullinan was eventually recovered having suffered about $15,000 of damages, but Sykes – who was identified as the assailant by the FBI – was not apprehended and is still wanted by police.
Renting a highly eye-catching $400k luxury SUV to pull off a bank robbery rather than stealing something more discrete for the job doesn’t seem that smart, but if Sykes is the perp, it’s not like he’s new to the game. Fox2 reports he had been on supervised release since February, having been convicted in relation to a 2020 bank heist. On that occasion he was slumming it in a black Mercedes getaway car.
