These two independently designed models really put the Maverick Tremor to shame, making it seem almost bland in comparison

The Two-Door Mavericks Ford Never Knew You Wanted

  • One of these Mavericks draws inspiration from the iconic F-150 SVT Lightning.
  • With two fewer doors, the compact Ford pickup looks just about perfect.
  • The second variant takes cues from the more lux Eddie Bauer and King Ranch trims.

Ford’s Maverick is a solid little pickup, but let’s be honest, it’s not exactly setting car enthusiasts’ hearts on fire. However, that could change if Ford decided to expand the lineup with a few extra variants. And while we’re daydreaming, taking some design cues from Abimelec Design’s latest renderings wouldn’t be a bad place to start.

The designer behind this vision clearly felt the Maverick could use a lot more attitude and a couple fewer doors. With that in mind, they set out to give the pickup some extra edge, borrowing styling cues from the Ford F-150 SVT Lightning. The result? A two-door, two-seater Maverick, sitting on a shortened wheelbase and dressed in an eye-catching shade of red.

A custom front bumper and extended side skirts give the truck a more aggressive look, while the lowered stance and redesigned bed hint at a more performance-oriented nature. Add flared wheel arches and some aftermarket wheels, and you’ve got a Maverick that’s far less “lifestyle truck” and much more “let’s take this to the track.”

If Ford ever decided to produce something like this, they’d be smart to pair it with a new high-performance powertrain with over 300 horsepower. Then again, the chances of an SVT Lightning version of the Maverick hitting production in the near future are slim to none. But hey, never say never, right?

The second rendered model is also a two-door Maverick, but this time it draws inspiration from the upscale F-150 trims, like the Eddie Bauer and King Ranch. The standout feature here is its retro two-tone paint job that’s paired with chrome steel wheels and rugged off-road tires, giving it a tougher, more refined look.

Elsewhere, the truck’s front bumper also gets the chrome treatment, along with new wing mirror caps for added flair. Meanwhile, the truck bed has been redesigned with practicality in mind, now featuring side steps that make it easier for owners to hop in and out.

If you’re not into daydreaming and just want to buy something that’s ready to go, the current Tremor model is the Maverick for you. It comes loaded with all the off-road essentials, including a locking rear differential and upgraded shocks and springs, so you can hit the trails without missing a beat.

So, if Ford were to build one of these two-door Mavericks, would you be first in line to place an order, or would you rather wait for something completely different, like, say, a “Lightning” electric version?
