BMW Group Malaysia today unveiled the New BMW iX xDrive60 M Sport and the New Locally Assembled BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport with an exclusive showcase at The Art of Driving 2025. This BMW roadshow at the KL Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) comes after one of Malaysia’s most prestigious golf events – The Open Championship round held at the club over the weekend.
Alongside the New the New BMW iX xDrive60 M Sport Pro and the New BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport , BMW Malaysia will has also brought in the new BMW iX xDrive45 Sport, a milder, 408hp variant instead of the xDrive60 which makes 544hp, and this too, will be available at all authorised BMW dealerships in Malaysia starting 25 th July 2025. So folks, we have two new iX variants and a new X5 for you to ponder over.
The New BMW iX xDrive60 M Sport Pro, the New BMW iX xDrive45 Sport and the New BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport all feature the latest in BMW’s innovation and heritage. The latest generation of the New BMW iX features a significantly sportier personality, new visuals at the front and rear (note that new kidney grille up front in the iX), a considerable increase in power and a larger battery capacity. A major looking facelift, bringing the EV SUV into the future. Or what we’re used to seeing with the new BMWs these days with its larger than normal kidney grille.
As for the BMW X5, which entered its fourth generation in 2018, first saw a Life Cycle update, or in normal talk, a facelift, with the introduction of the BMW X5 xDrive50e M Sport plug-in hybrid back in 2024. Now, the unveiling of the New BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport marks the debut of an all-new Mild Hybrid variant to the BMW X5 line-up in Malaysia. The latest variant offers a completely modernised front and rear sections and revised interior ambience, while retaining the core of the BMW DNA with an enhanced new generation of the iconic BMW six-cylinder in-line engine. Something you still get in the X5 SUV but you cannot get in any petrol powered 5 series sedan here in Malaysia for now.

As the BMW Group’s first exclusively all-electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), the BMW iX continues to lead the way into the future of Electrified Mobility, with two new variants now available in Malaysia: The New BMW iX xDrive60 M Sport Pro and the New BMW iX xDrive45 Sport.
The New BMW iX retains its familiar, distinctive appearance while introducing refined design elements that bring a more dynamic look. Retaining its shape, the new kidney grille now features diagonal lines and a more delicate look. It is enhanced by BMW Iconic Glow, which pulsates when the vehicle doors are opened or closed, marking the feature’s first appearance in this model. The new adaptive LED headlights with high beam assistant have also been updated with two angled lights on each side of the vehicle, providing enhanced visibility while minimising glare, further elevating its dynamic presence.
Both New BMW iX variants are equipped with the expanded exterior mirror package. Available as standard exclusively for the New BMW iX xDrive60 M Sport Pro, the new M Sport Package Pro adds even more dynamic appeal with its diamond-polished 22-inch M aerodynamic wheels in 1025 M Multicolour 3D polished buff with red Sport brakes and M Lights Shadowline, while the M Aerodynamics package sharpens the vehicle’s contours at the front and rear, giving it a more aggressive stance. Meanwhile, the New BMW iX xDrive45 Sport features the 21-inch aerodynamic wheels in 1012 Bicolour 3D polished buff that complements the vehicle’s sporty side profile and enhances its aerodynamic efficiency.
Inside, the New BMW iX maintains its characteristic interior ambience and generous space. Both the New BMW iX xDrive60 M Sport Pro and the New BMW iX xDrive45 Sport feature ambient lighting and a Panorama glass roof Sky Lounge that adds to the spaciousness of the interior. The 18-speaker, 655-watt Harman Kardon surround sound system delivers an immersive listening experience, while the BMW Live Cockpit Professional provides intuitive access to navigation, entertainment, and vehicle settings. In addition, the BMW IconicSounds Electric offer an unmistakable range of sounds to further enhance the driving experience. As for convenience, both models feature multifunctional seats for the driver, Comfort Access System, storage for wireless charging and automatic air conditioning with 4-zone control as standard.
Meanwhile, connectivity for both models includes Intelligent Emergency Call, Teleservices, ConnectedDrive Services, Connected Package Professional and Smartphone Integration as standard.
Exclusively for the New BMW iX xDrive60 M Sport Pro, the standard M Sport Pro package includes the M emblem on the instrument panel, M multifunctional seats wrapped in Sensatec M upholstery in Black and Alcantara in Atlas Grey and accented with coloured M stripes, all adding a more striking, athletic look. The package also includes the round M leather steering wheel, with its three spokes and Dark Silver accents, Dark Silver trim finishers and anthracite headliner, creating a distinctive and elegant ambience. The armrests and instrument panel are also wrapped in Sensatec M upholstery in Black and Alcantara in Atlas Grey, adding a premium, tactile finish. To complete the sportier aesthetic, smoked lights at the front and rear make for an even more dynamic look. As an additional choice, the interior of the New BMW iX xDrive60 M Sport Pro can alternatively be furnished with Interior Design Suite. Meanwhile, luggage capacity is measured at 500 litres, expandable up to 1,750 litres.
In terms of performance, the New BMW iX models feature an all-wheel-drive configuration, which in combination with the 5th-generation BMW eDrive technology and new technical specifications, results in greater power output and an extended range. The New BMW iX xDrive60 M Sport Pro, with its 400 kW (544 hp) and 765 Nm of torque, offers a more powerful and dynamic driving experience out of the two variants. This variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds, achieving a top speed of 200 km/h. Meanwhile, its electric range is measured up to 701 km on the WLTP cycle, made possible by its larger 111.5 kWh gross battery capacity. A maximum DC charging rate of 195 kW enables the New BMW iX xDrive60 M Sport Pro to achieve faster charging, with up to 217 km in added range after just 10 minutes of high-power charging.
On the other hand, the New BMW iX xDrive45 Sport’s powertrain delivers 300 kW (408 hp) and 700 Nm of torque, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h. It achieves an electric range of up to 602 km on the WLTP cycle. With a gross battery capacity of 100.6 kWh, the charging rate has also been significantly improved, now supporting DC fast charging at up to 175 kW, 25 kW more than the previous BMW iX xDrive40 variant. This allows for a quick recovery of range, providing up to 166 km of range in just 10 minutes of high-power charging.
The BMW Digital Key Plus, as part of the Comfort Access system in the New BMW iX, offers a seamless and secure way to access the vehicle. It includes a physical key, Setup Card, and Service Card for easy installation and setup. With the Setup Card, users can quickly activate the Digital Key Plus by holding it near their smartphone or scanning a QR code. The Digital Key Plus allows drivers to share up to 18 digital keys with others, setting specific roles and limits, such as speed or acceleration, ideal for novice drivers. Additionally, it enables vehicle functions through the My BMW app. The Service Card ensures a simple transition back to a physical key when needed for service or breakdowns. In terms of driving assistance, both variants come equipped with Driving Assistant Professional and Parking Assistant Plus. These advanced systems provide additional safety and ease of use, as well as a more secure and effortless driving experience.
The New BMW iX xDrive60 M Sport Pro and New BMW iX xDrive45 Sport come in a range of exterior colours, including Black Sapphire, Mineral White, Arctic Race Blue, Aventurine Red and Dune Grey. Exclusive to each model, the New BMW iX xDrive45 Sport is also available in exterior colour of Alpine White and Sophisto Grey with interior in Atelier Oyster, Atelier Mocha or Atelier Black. Separately, the New BMW iX xDrive60 M Sport Pro is available in M Carbon Black, while its interior is available in Interior Design Suite Amido, Interior Design Suite Castanea and M Sport Interior Design Black/Atlas Grey.

Combining athletic elegance with modern luxury, the BMW X5 has been a leading model in the Premium Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) segment. The latest variant has undergone comprehensive design modifications that give the impression of a new model. From the front, the New BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport has been substantially redesigned, with a new three-dimensional BMW Iconic Glow kidney grille. This is paired with redesigned high-beam assistant enhanced Adaptive LED headlights that have been slimmed down by 35mm that lend the vehicle a more refined and dynamic appearance.
Meanwhile, the signature daytime running lights take on a bold X-shaped design, concluding in an outward-pointing arrow shape that further emphasises its width. A newly sculpted front apron with triangular air intakes and vertically arranged air curtains completes the commanding look.
From the side, the New BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport features staggered 21” M light alloy wheels with a V-Spoke design, which are paired with M Sport brakes. Moving onto the rear, the New BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport continues to impress with slender, three-dimensional taillights with stylised X design and an updated rear apron design that adds to its sporty aesthetic. Overall, the standard M Sport package brings a sportier and more dynamic touch to the overall design.
Other notable exterior features are the Exterior Line and roof rail in Satin Aluminium, fine-wood trim in Fineline Black with high-gloss metal effect and extended exterior mirror package.
Inside, the New BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport exudes luxurious ambience and modern sophistication with its redesigned cockpit. The elegant BMW instrument panel with BMW Curved Display is the main eye-catcher, featuring a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch control display. This large, fully digital screen offers a seamless interface, allowing easy access to essential functions while providing a clean and modern aesthetic.
Meanwhile, a wider trim strip above the instrument panel enhances the horizontal layout, acting as an elegant backdrop for the BMW Curved Display.
The inclusion of a Light Bar on the front passenger side as well as the integrated control elements below the Central Display adds an extra layer of refinement, all contributing to an overall interior atmosphere that is particularly sleek and sophisticated. Sport seats are included as standard for both the driver and front passenger, offering electric seat adjustment with memory function.
Meanwhile, “Sensafin” upholstery, a premium synthetic material that mimics the fine grain of leather, enhances the premium feel of the cabin, offering both comfort and durability – it is included as standard in Black. Additionally, the M leather steering wheel combines luxury with precision for a dynamic and comfortable driving experience, while the M headliner anthracite further enhances the sporty feel of the SAV.
Below, the redesigned centre console features have been fundamentally redesigned, featuring a tidy layout with the BMW Controller and more touch-sensitive function keys, offering effortless control at the driver’s fingertips. Gear changes are now performed with a rocker switch. Other standard interior features include a Harman Kardon surround sound system, Comfort Access System, alarm system, Travel & Comfort System, 4-zone automatic air conditioning, panoramic glass roof, roller sunblind for the rear side windows, floor mats in velour and wireless charging tray. Luggage capacity is measured at 650 litres, expandable up to 1,870 litres.
As for performance, the New BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport’s power unit is part of a new generation of BMW’s iconic six-cylinder in-line petrol engines, which have been a core of the brand’s engineering DNA for over nine decades. The latest iteration of the engine benefits from extensive innovations affecting the combustion process, camshaft control, injection, ignition system and exhaust gas routing.
It also features the most recent version of VALVETRONIC fully variable valve control, which reduces the engine’s frictional torque on the overrun by around two-thirds, allowing for more intense harvesting of braking energy. In combination with a 48V mild-hybrid system, the 3.0-litre unit produces a maximum output of 280 kW (381 hp) and an impressive 540 Nm of torque – an output increase of 35 kW (47 hp) and 70 Nm of torque, compared to the predecessor. Paired with an 8- speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system, this powertrain allows the New BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds, ensuring a dynamic and engaging performance on the road. The maximum speed of the vehicle reaches 250 km/h, further highlighting its high-performance capabilities.
Meanwhile, the SAV’s dynamic handling is enhanced by its double wishbone front suspension, five- link rear suspension, and Dynamic Damper Control, allowing the chassis to be fine-tuned for both on-road and off-road performance. For added comfort, the self-levelling 2-axle air suspension lowers the body by 20 millimetres in Sport mode at speeds of 138 km/h, while off-road, it raises by up to 40 millimetres. The height can also be lowered by 40 millimetres at the touch of a button for easy loading. This powerful combination of maximum sportiness, ride comfort and good off-road capabilities makes the New BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport a standout in its segment.
The New BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of advanced BMW driver assistance systems as standard, including the Driving Assistant Professional and Parking Assistant Professional. The Driving Assistant Professional system integrates a range of camera- and radar-based features, including Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Emergency Stop Assistant, Automatic Speed Limit Assist, Lane Change Assistant, Lane Keeping Assistant with side collision protection, Crossing-Traffic Warning at the front, Evasion Assistant, Intersection Warning with city braking function, and a wrong-way warning function.
The Parking Assistant Professional offers added peace of mind during tight manoeuvres. This camera and ultrasound-based driver assistance system includes a reversing assistant, Active Park Distance Control, lateral parking aid, and a Surround View System with Remote 3D View. Automatic parking is supported for both parallel and perpendicular spaces, while the Manoeuvring Assistant allows the vehicle to save up to 10 preset parking paths – up to 198 metres long – automatically, which can also be activated via smartphone.
In terms of connectivity, the New BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport features the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, led by the BMW Operating System 8.5. The system supports multiple modes of interaction — from the iDrive Controller and voice commands to touch input and the optional Gesture Control, ensuring maximum ease of use for all occupants. Moreover, with its self-learning capabilities, the system recognises individual driving habits and proactively suggests helpful tips for an even more tailored experience. The BMW Operating System 8.5 offers user-configurable widgets that display real-time information, including navigation and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

Additionally, the New BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport also features the full-colour BMW Head-Up Display, which allows the driver to keep their focus on the road while still having all the key information displayed right in front of them.
