Modern Hypercars Lead the Sale
The 2025 auction centers around The Future Classics Collection, a remarkable assembly of 24 modern vehicles valued at over $30 million, all offered without reserve. This unprecedented no-reserve approach provides genuine opportunity for collectors to acquire exceptional vehicles at market-determined prices.
2020 Bugatti Divo
Headlining the auction is the first Bugatti Divo ever offered at public auction, estimated at $7,000,000–$9,000,000. This ultra-rare hypercar represents one of only 40 produced worldwide and shows fewer than 800 miles from new.
The vehicle recently starred in the Petersen Museum’s “Hypercars: The Allure of the Extreme” exhibition, cementing its status as a modern automotive icon.
The Divo showcases focused engineering derived from the Chiron platform but optimized for lateral acceleration and cornering performance.
Its distinctive bodywork includes an enlarged rear spoiler, redesigned front splitter, and additional air intakes that generate 198 pounds more downforce than a standard Chiron.
Two other modern Bugattis complete the marque’s representation. The 2021 Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport, estimated at $3,750,000–$4,250,000, presents one of 60 examples produced, finished in white over red with only 1,000 miles recorded.
The Pur Sport features enhanced aerodynamics, reduced weight, and track-focused suspension tuning compared to standard Chiron models.
The 2023 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, carrying an estimate of $3,500,000–$4,500,000, represents one of approximately 80 produced and displays just 740 miles on its odometer. This variant emphasizes ultimate top speed capability over the Pur Sport’s track orientation.
Pagani Hypercars
The collection includes two exceptional Pagani models that showcase the Italian manufacturer’s artisanal approach to hypercar construction. The 2017 Pagani Huayra Roadster, estimated at $3,200,000–$3,600,000, carries special significance as Horacio Pagani personally selected it to represent the marque at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
This official factory show car displays just over 800 miles and represents one of the most historically important Huayra Roadsters ever produced.
The 2022 Pagani Huayra R, estimated at $2,800,000–$3,400,000, represents the 23rd of only 30 track-focused examples produced.
With fewer than 200 kilometers on its odometer, this particular car showcases Pagani’s most extreme interpretation of the Huayra concept, featuring enhanced aerodynamics and a naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12 engine producing 850 horsepower.
Apollo and Koenigsegg
Among the rarest lots is the 2022 Apollo Intensa Emozione “Ocean Dragon,” estimated at $2,500,000–$3,500,000. This marks the first Apollo ever offered publicly at auction, representing one of only ten examples produced worldwide and just four delivered to the United States.
The track-focused hypercar features aggressive aerodynamics and a naturally aspirated 6.3-liter V12 engine.
The 2021 Koenigsegg Regera, estimated at $2,250,000–$3,000,000, displays a mere 70 miles from new.
This Swedish hypercar employs a unique hybrid drivetrain combining a twin-turbo V8 with three electric motors, producing a combined 1,500 horsepower while utilizing a revolutionary direct-drive transmission system.
Classic Auto Spotting
1985 Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2: Group B Legend
Among the most significant classic entries stands the 1985 Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2, estimated at $1,750,000–$2,250,000.
This represents the ultimate evolution of Audi’s Group B rally program, featuring a shortened wheelbase, widened track, and enhanced aerodynamics compared to earlier Sport Quattro models.
The S1 E2 developed approximately 550 horsepower from its turbocharged 2.1-liter five-cylinder engine, making it one of the most powerful rally cars of the Group B era.
This particular example joined the Gran Turismo Collection in 2020 and underwent comprehensive mechanical restoration including hydraulic power-steering pump repair, custom Pyrotec fuel cell fabrication, and complete electrical system overhaul.
1956 Ferrari 250 Europa GT
The 1956 Ferrari 250 Europa GT, carrying an estimate of $1,700,000–$2,000,000, represents early development of Ferrari’s legendary 250 series.
This model served as the bridge between Ferrari’s earlier touring cars and the more focused 250 GT Berlinetta that would follow.
Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing Heritage
The 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing, estimated at $1,350,000–$1,550,000, brings documented Geneva Motor Show provenance.
Originally displayed at the 1956 Geneva Auto Show in ivory white over green gaberdine plaid interior, Swiss tractor manufacturer Hans Hürlimann purchased it immediately following the exhibition.
The vehicle’s documented history includes early accident repair at the factory, subsequent ownership by Georgina Garcia Conde who acquired it for $1,500 in 1969, and later residence in Mexico under collector Carlos Hank Rhon before joining the current family in 1995.
Recent maintenance addressed fuel pump rebuilding and brake hydraulics servicing.
Additional Notable Consignments
1985 Peugeot 205 Turbo 16
For Group B enthusiasts seeking a more accessible entry point, Bonhams offers a 1985 Peugeot 205 Turbo 16, estimated at $250,000–$350,000.
This road-going version of Peugeot’s rally champion was believed to be one of two sold new to Germany and maintained in exceptional condition with only 3,216 kilometers showing.
The current owner acquired the vehicle in 2022 and invested $200,000 in comprehensive restoration work through Al Design in New York, including new suspension components, cooling system overhaul, clutch replacement, and complete fuel system servicing.
2018 Porsche 991 GT2 RS Weissach
The Future Classics Collection includes a 2018 Porsche 991 GT2 RS Weissach package, estimated at $500,000–$600,000.
Finished in Paint-to-Sample Maritime Blue with desirable magnesium wheels, this highly optioned example displays just 213 original miles.
The GT2 RS represents Porsche’s most powerful naturally aspirated 911, producing 700 horsepower from its twin-turbo flat-six engine.
Contemporary Luxury Offerings
Modern luxury is represented through several unique lots including a 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre with Mansory customization, estimated at $400,000–$500,000.
This electric grand tourer showcases Mansory’s distinctive styling modifications applied to Rolls-Royce’s first fully electric model.
The 2023 Mercedes-Maybach S680 Virgil Abloh Edition, estimated at $275,000–$350,000, marks the first public offering of this collaboration between the luxury marque and the late fashion designer.
This limited edition features unique interior treatments and exterior accents celebrating Abloh’s distinctive aesthetic vision.
About Bonhams
Founded in London in 1793 by Thomas Dodd and later joined by George Bonham, Bonhams survived financial challenges, ownership changes, and two world wars to become a major international presence.
Today, the auction house operates from flagship locations in London, New York, Los Angeles, and Hong Kong, conducting more than 400 specialist sales annually across 60 collecting categories.
The Quail Auction has established impressive historical performance, with notable years including $51 million in 2023, $36.9 million in 2021, and $56.4 million in 2017.
The venue achieved its record in 2014 when a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO sold for $38,115,000, establishing the third-highest price ever achieved for a car at public auction.
Bonhams offers multiple participation methods: in-person attendance, online bidding, telephone bidding, mobile app participation, or advance absentee bids. Registration can occur up to 24 hours before the auction.
For automotive lots in the United States, Bonhams charges buyers a 10% premium on the hammer price.
Preview opportunities allow examination of over 100 collector cars. Wednesday, August 13 and Thursday, August 14 offer viewing from 9 AM to 6 PM, with final preview on auction day from 8:30 AM to 11 AM.
Admission options include the complete auction catalogue for $120, the Gallery Guide for $50, or individual wristbands at $20 per person.
The no-reserve nature of The Future Classics Collection eliminates minimum bid requirements, ensuring all lots will sell regardless of final hammer price.
This approach, while providing genuine acquisition opportunities, also eliminates traditional safety nets for consigners, making the Friday auction particularly compelling for both bidders and observers.
