Up for sale is my 2004 Volvo V70R with the 6-speed manual “space ball” transmission. I am the 2nd owner of this vehicle. I purchased it from the original owner in 2020 with 194,614 miles.
Current Mileage: 200,035 (will likely go up slightly during listing)
Color: Black Sapphire Pearl over Gobi tan
Transmission: 6-speed M66 manual
Everything works as it should and the car drives great.
Good
-Timing belt and water pump replaced (Installed 2021)
-IPD front control arms (Installed 2024)
-All new engine mounts (Installed 2024)
-Delrin front subframe bushings (Installed 2024)
-OEM 05+ center console swap
-OEM 05+ jewel tail lights
-Swapped fabric A-pillar covers for plastic to fix peeling issue
-Pegasus wheels were refinished and have zero curb rash
Not so good
-The driver’s seat features the usual hole on the left-hand bolster (I was never able to find a replacement seat locally).
-The check engine light does occasionally come on. Last it was diagnosed, it was determined to be the evap system. I replaced the evap pump, but the code still persists so I assume the issue is in the hoses going to the pump. It does not affect performance from what I can tell.
-Ding and scrapes. The car does have a few spots of very shallow dents from errant shopping carts and negligent parking neighbors. Additionally, the front bumper does feature scrapes and the signature crack on the underside of the front lip. These are all cosmetic and don’t compromise the actual paint coat and will not cause any rust issues.
-Airbag recall. There is an open airbag recall for these cars. It is a totally free service at any Volvo dealer, but I am vain and opted not to do it as I didn’t want to lose the R-branded airbag cover (Silly, I know)
-4C suspension. The 4C suspension settings are all still functional, but it can be a stiff/jarring ride even on the “Comfort” setting. That’s the nature of this suspension setup as it ages from what I’ve read.
Owning an M66 P2 R was a dream of mine and I’ve done my best to be a good caretaker of this vehicle. I’m only selling because I own two other Volvo wagons and this garage queen just doesn’t see the use it deserves. I consider this car to be in the perfect state for someone who wants to actually drive one of these fine wagons as it’s in overall good condition, but not so perfect and/or low mileage that you need to be anxious about adding miles to rare gem.
Please reach out with any questions and I’ll do my best to answer. I love this car and I’d love to see it go to someone who appreciates it as much as I have. Thanks!
