Skoda Elroq Review (2025)

Read Caroline’s Skoda Elroq review for everything you need to know about buying Skoda’s new compact electric SUV.

Skoda Ireland has expanded its range with the arrival of the new Elroq. This compact electric SUV slots into the Skoda range below the popular Enyaq, and so offers a more affordable entry into the brand’s electric SUV range.

There are three battery options available with range varying from 373 kilometres up to 576 kilometres (WLTP).

Pricing starts from €36,545 on the road.

Let’s take a closer look.

Design

The Elroq gets the new face of the Skoda brand, which is much more modern than before. At the front, instead of a traditional grille, there’s a black panel that houses the camera and radar for the car. S K O D A is also spelt out across the front. There are still enough lines and angles so it’s easily recognisable as a Skoda, with a smart, compact presence that won’t offend anyone.

All versions have LED headlights and rear lights, and come on 20-inch alloy wheels. There are also chrome roof rails and chrome around the window line. There’s a good selection of colours too including Timiano Green, Race Blue, Velvet Red and Moon White.

It is possible to opt for a Sportline version of the Elroq 60 and Elroq 85. They get a sportier set of 20-inch alloy wheels, as well as matrix LED headlights, scrolling indicators at the back, extra badging, black roof rails and black around the window line.

Is the Elroq bigger than the Enyaq?

The two share the same wheelbase but the Elroq is shorter and more compact than the Enyaq, which makes the Elroq a closer rival to cars like the Kia EV3 and BYD Atto 3.

Skoda Elroq Interior

Inside the Elroq has a pleasant cabin that once again gets some inspiration from the Enyaq. That’s good because it’s good quality with plenty of interesting trims available and soft touch materials.

The standard upholstery is a mix of fabric and synthetic leather. But it is possible to upgrade to different ones like Lodge pictured above, which adds funky orange seatbelts and black/grey fabric and synthetic leather upholstery.

The Elroq gets similar digital tech onboard to other Skodas including a slim digital driver display and a 13-inch touchscreen with voice control, navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

Other standard features include heated front seats, heated leather steering wheel, ambient lighting, wireless charging pad, dual zone climate control, and a parking camera.

Practicality

The Elroq shares the same wheelbase as the larger Enyaq, which means it excels in interior space for passengers. Legroom for rear seat passengers is good and there’s also a centre armrest. There are Isofix child seat fixtures on the two outer seats as well as the front passenger seat.

The boot is also generously sized at 470 litres, though the rear seats can also split fold 60:40 to create more space. There’s also handy underfloor storage for the charging cables.

The boot opening is wide and not too high making it easy to load, but the boot lid is surprisingly heavy and there is no inside handle to make it easier to pull down.

Sportline models add a powered tailgate with motion sensor.

What is the range of the Skoda Elroq?

The Elroq 50 uses a 55kWh lithium-ion battery with range up to 373 kilometres (WLTP). The Elroq 60 uses a 63kWh battery with range up to 427 kilometres, which looks like a good offering. If you need something with more range perhaps for more motorway driving or road trips at the weekends, there’s the Elroq 85. It uses an 82kWh battery with range up to 576 kilometres.

Driving the Elroq 85

The Elroq is built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, just like the Enyaq, so gets all the same positive attributes. It’s smooth to drive, refined, agile and comfortable without being in any way exciting to drive.

Acoustic glass in the side windows improves refinement and makes the cabin quieter. It deals with the bumps and ruts of Irish rural roads very well, with good cruising comfort on the motorway too.

I was driving the Elroq 85, which uses a 77kWh battery (usable capacity) that might suit buyers who need more range for motorway driving. With the 0-100km/h sprint taking just 6.6 seconds, it feels pleasantly swift and responsive to drive.

Drive modes are also included and increased regenerative braking from flicking the drive selector quickly into the B mode.

During my test in a warm April, my average energy consumption was a respectable 17.3kWh per 100 kilometres. A heat pump is a cost option.

Charging

Up to 11kW AC charging is possible. Fast charging rates vary by battery size: up to 145kW for the Elroq 50, 165kW for the Elroq 60 and 135kW for the Elroq 85 for a 10-80% charge between 24-28 minutes.

How much is the Skoda Elroq in Ireland?

The Elroq 50 is available from €36,545 on the road, the Elroq 60 from €38,416 and the Elroq 85 from €42,315. Sportline versions are available from €42,695.

Verdict

The new Elroq is likely to build on the success of the Enyaq because its compact size and price make it attractive to a new cohort of buyers seeking a smart but practical electric SUV.

It brings the same level of quality to the interior finish and digital technology. It’s one where you feel instantly at home behind the wheel.

There’s a good range of battery options, but the Elroq 60 looks like the real sweet spot of the range. And with good equipment levels, it looks like the best value too.
