Caroline travelled with Skoda Ireland to Amsterdam to preview the new Skoda Elroq ahead of its launch in Ireland in 2025.
What is it?
The Skoda Elroq is a new electric SUV from the Czech car brand built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB electric vehicle platform that already underpins bestsellers like the Skoda Enyaq, Volkswagen ID.3 and Volkswagen ID.4.

Design
The Elroq features the brand’s new ‘modern solid’ design language. It has some new design features like the ‘Tech-Deck’ face, a slim gloss black panel that replaces the typical Skoda grille and hides the camera and radar for the driving assistance features. It looks cool and modern, but with a tough, robust look that is typical of Skoda’s SUV models. Large wheels feature across the range with wheel gap reducers to improve aerodynamics. Like in other Skoda models, there will be an Elroq Sportline.
The Elroq is also the first model to feature the Skoda lettering on both the bonnet and steering wheel.
How big is it?
The new Elroq is similarly sized to the fuel-powered Skoda Karoq and looks set to rival other compact electric SUVs like the BYD Atto 3, Kia EV3 and Hyundai Kona Electric. It will slot into the Skoda range below the Enyaq but above the upcoming Skoda Epiq, which will be the brand’s small electric SUV offering. It actually has the same wheelbase as the Enyaq. But shorter overhangs front and rear give it a smart, compact stance.

Skoda Elroq interior
Inside the Elroq features plenty of soft touch materials and has a logical layout with intuitive controls. Typical Skoda really! In fact it feels pretty much like a mini-Enyaq inside with many of the same material finishes. In the centre of the dash there’s a large touchscreen with the brand’s latest software and operating system.
There’s adequate legroom in the rear for children or adults, and a 470 litre boot with features like a net to store the charging cables under the parcel shelf.
What sort of options do I have when it comes to battery and range?
There are three different battery sizes available. The range will kick off with the Elroq 50 that uses a 55kWh battery (gross capacity) for a range up to 370 kilometres (WLTP) and 170hp motor sending power to the rear wheels. Then there’s the Elroq 60 with a larger 63kWh battery, 204hp motor and range up to 440 kilometres (WLTP). The Elroq 80 uses a 82kWh battery for a range up to 560 kilometres (WLTP) and 285hp motor. There’s also the Elroq 85x that uses the same battery but its dual motor set-up offers more power (300hp).
Charging the Elroq
DC fast charging is up to 175 kW for a 10-80% charge in 25 to 28 minutes depending on model. 11kW AC charging comes as standard. Manual and automatic battery preconditioning means you can charge the Elroq at the optimum rate when you get to the charging station.

Skoda Elroq Price
The new Elroq will offer good value in its segment with a launch price in Ireland from €36,545 after rebates and delivery charges for the Elroq 50 with up to 370 kilometres of range. Realistically more buyers will opt for the Elroq 60 priced from €38,416 with a range up to 440 kilometres (WLTP). The Elroq 80 will be available from €42,315 with a range up to 560 kilometres. Skoda Ireland has also made the decision to price it below the fuel-powered Karoq, which could make it even more appealing to new car buyers.
Standard equipment includes a rear-view camera, remote air-conditioning, Crew Protect Assist, Side Assist, 13-inch infotainment screen and SmartLink for seamless smartphone connectivity.
So when can I get one?
The new Elroq will be available to order from 7th October and is expected to arrive in April 2025.
