Six Days And Sunday could describe the de facto publication schedule for this blog, Disaffected Musings, at present. It was also a suggested title for this book:
Author W.C. Heinz, whose name is partially missing from the dust jacket, wanted to call the book Six Days And Sunday, but editor and legendary sports writer Red Smith (whose given name was Walter Wellesley Smith) said, “With that title it’ll end up in the bookstores with the biblical tracts.” The book has had more than 20 printings. This is at least the second copy I have owned.
Run To Daylight! chronicles the preparation of the Green Bay Packers for an important game, and narrates the game as well, during the 1962 season as seen through the eyes of head coach Vince Lombardi. The Packers’ opponent is never mentioned directly, nor are the names of opposing players, but the game was the Packers’ 9-7 win over their divisional rival, the Detroit Lions, on October 7 of that year. The Packers finished 13-1 that season on their way to a second consecutive NFL championship.

Certainly not trying to jinx myself or ruin my karma, but my semi-annual blood work (blood draw was yesterday) was the best it has been in a long time. I guess I take the quick turnaround for granted; it used to take up to a week to get results, but results are now available in hours. I guess eating 1-2 Oreo Thins 5-6 days a week isn’t harmful, after all. I wish that doctor who screamed at me for eating them would read this.
Wearing a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) has proven to be helpful except that the two I wore during much of the testing period underestimated how much my blood glucose improved. Yes, giving up breakfast cereal was, no doubt, a key behavioral change. Oh, it wasn’t just my glucose level that improved, but all of my levels. Of course, I will now suffer some catastrophic medical event.

“Centralization is the death blow of public freedom.”
– Benjamin Disraeli (1804-1881), former Prime Minister of Great Britain
“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.”
– The Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution
“The state can be and often has been in the course of history the main source of mischief and disaster.”

Speaking of government, from this Gallup piece: “For decades, Gallup has tracked a question focused on the issue of government’s role in society. The results [from November of this year] provide continuing evidence that Americans, on balance, prefer a smaller government doing fewer things.”
Another Gallup poll reports on what percentage of American workers belong to a labor union. What do you think it is? If you answered NINE PERCENT then you are correct.

Et tu, MIT?! This Why Evolution Is True (WEIT) post is titled, “New MIT course to indoctrinate students in all aspects of woke ideology that colonize medicine.” Truth is stranger and more frightening than fiction.

According to the CDC, Covid-19 positive test rates have hit a five-year Thanksgiving low going into the first holiday of the winter season, and respiratory disease levels of the flu and RSV are also at pre-pandemic lows. Even if we had known that prior to receiving shots, my wonderful wife and I would still have opted to get COVID and flu shots.

This CNBC article is titled, “The auto industry is pulling back on its ‘capital junkie’ tendencies after unprecedented spending on EVs, self-driving.” From the piece, “Automakers from Detroit to Japan and Germany are attempting to lower costs and reduce expenses amid economic concerns, billions of dollars wasted on self-driving vehicles and a prolonged, if not uncertain, return on investment in EVs amid slower-than-expected adoption.” [emphasis mine]
STOP THE EV INSANITY!!

This CNBC piece reports on Formula 1 approving GM-Cadillac as an 11th team starting in 2026. Gee, isn’t that the year Formula 1 will begin using synthetic fuels in its cars?! Is it too much to hope that General Motors has seen the light and realizes that synthetic, non-petroleum based fuels are the solution to tailpipe emissions?!

I must admit part of me wanted to celebrate my blood work results by buying a car like this. Oh, if it seems more of the same photos are being shown over and over, my downgrading my WordPress plan has greatly reduced the amount of media storage available to me, meaning I have to exercise much prudence in adding new photos to my media library.
How about a different color?
The estimate for the custom carport wasn’t low, but at least it wasn’t in five figures. I suspect we will have it built before the acquisition of any cars. I am beginning to chomp at the bit. Again, I hope I am not ruining my karma.
