Silicon Valley Volvisti Meet-up? | SwedeSpeed

OK all, there’s been two or three different conversations regarding some type of Volvo (Northern California) get together both here and and on various other forum sub-threads and the one event (Cars and Caffeine) that was suggested seems to be a non-starter, so how about we carry it on in this sub-forum and try to set something up?

This is to ALL VOLVO OWNERS in the Bay Area (old, new…. P1800 or 544 or 240 or Polestar) who might be interested, I’m going to try and set up an informal meet-up down here in San Jose area (at least at first) just because, well, I live here [laff] and many of the folks I’ve been “talking to” here on SS about such an event are from this area ( I truly don’t mean to exclude anyone – So-Cal, Central Valley, Northbay or Sac or….. but for starters, maybe just a “regional” thing open to any/all to get this going?) I’d envision that maybe we can move the venue around from time to time or possibly coincide it with any VCOA events that might be going on). I am totally open to heading up to the North Bay, Sac, down to Hollister, Monterey whatever. But for now…..

There was talk about meeting up at Cars & Caffeine, allegedly on March 8. Turns out this event is a non-starter and the listing one of us saw about it turned out to be for last year’s event.

Sooooooooooo, if a few of us want to get together that morning (or other date), let’s just pick a casual place – big parking lot with a Starbucks or something – and just have coffee n’ scones or something. The shopping center on Camden and Union (with the Lucky store, Chipotle, etc) has a huge parking lot and a Peet’s on the outer edge. I’ve seen car and bike groups hanging out there from time to time drinking some joe and bench racing. If that works, I vote for Sunday morning, March 8th around 8:30-9 (less people in the lot – at least until about 11 when everyone goes shopping) and we’d just go for a couple of hours.

Another option is: I have a friend (guy I bought one of my Z’s from) is the organizer of a regular get-together for old school Datsun/Nissan (and other old school J-cars) every Last Thursday of the Month (evenings). I could talk to him and see if he’d welcome a bunch of Volvoholics as guests to that meet up. (I’m sure he would, car nuts are car nuts. no matter the flavor.) He holds them in Santa Clara somewhere…. a Starbucks parking lot I think. (So yeah, guess I’ll confess to stealing that idea from him… laff!)

What say? Thoughts? Other suggestions?
