Just two weeks after Hurricane Helene comes Milton and this guy is a monster. Having gotten very lucky with the flooding from Helene with just six inches of water entering the garage, my 1966 Corvette was successfully relocated to a parking garage on Sunday. You can’t have it, Milton!
The City of Tampa lifts the fees on the garages, and it was already starting to get crowded when we got down there. A mini car show was happening as we are parked in a row that contained a Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, a Lambo SUV and a bunch of Teslas. Mine was the only Corvette I saw down there, which makes me fear for all those cars still in harm’s way.
Our friends at the NCM Insurance Agency reached out to their customers earlier this week offering to reimburse 50% of your relocation fees up to a couple hundred dollars if you’re in the storm’s path. Time is ticking…

As for my house, we are in flood zone A and a few blocks over from Old Tampa Bay. Our floor is about 11 feet high so a 10-15 foot storm surge could definitely cause us some havoc. We did the best prep we could and then headed inland on Monday evening, taking our horses and a family of goats to a farm to ride out the storm.
We had to replace our pool pump after Helene and an electrician friend is going to try and pull it for us today. We just got a new washer and dryer as that six inches of water in the garage was enough to kill our previous ones. The new units are stackable so at least the dryer should be out of any flood waters.

Remember when the NCM Sinkhole happened and the museum’s staff talked about turning lemons into lemonade? My garage is a lot cleaner now than it was before Helene and we’ll probably have to do some additional purging following Milton. That’s a good thing as Mike Furman let me know yesterday that my 2025 E-Ray VIN 131 is scheduled to be built this week! Just hope I’m not sleeping in it due to the house being destroyed.
Mmmm, some lemonade would sure taste good right now.

As for working this week, I hope to stay online as much as I can, but don’t be surprised if some of the posts are a bit shorter. Thanks again to those who reached out personally to me this week, it was much appreciated!
