Road Rage Caught On Dashcam May Cost Her Over A Decade Behind Bars

  • Woman allegedly waved a gun after rear-ending a car at a Houston intersection.
  • Dashcam footage captured the entire incident and helped identify the suspect.
  • Suspect faces a second-degree felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon.

A case of road rage in Houston’s Galleria district has escalated into a serious criminal charge after a minor traffic bump led to an alarming confrontation. It’s not uncommon for road rage to turn into something dumb, but this is especially egregious. That’s because a woman, who is the one facing the charges, initiated the action after she hit the driver that she went on to threaten.

The incident went down around noon on July 24 at the intersection of Westheimer Road and Post Oak Boulevard. Authorities say that 33-year-old Kristal Garcia rear-ended another vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, while both were stopped at a light. Instead of calmly exchanging information for what was an extremely low-speed bump, Garcia allegedly brandished a firearm.

Dashcam Captures Heated Exchange

Investigators say she pulled up alongside the Toyota, pulled out a revolver, and shouted, “Do you wanna get killed or what?” before fleeing the scene. Dashcam from the victim’s vehicle captured video of the bump in traffic and what might be the suspect waving a gun in her Porsche before driving up beside the Toyota.

That same footage helped officers positively identify Garcia, and oh boy, does she have a wrap sheet. Police say that she’s been accused almost 20 crimes throughout her life, though many have ended up dismissed. That said, this one sounds like it’ll stick.

Authorities charged her with assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony in Texas, and she’s being held in jail with a $40,000 bond. If convicted, she could face over a decade in prison for the incident.

A Reminder About Dashcams

The victim tells Click2Houston that getting a dashcam is important these days. No doubt, it made a gigantic difference here. Without it, officers might still be looking for Garcia. Once again, as we’ve seen far too often over the years, road rage never pays off. Thankfully, everyone walked away from this one unscathed.
