I lucked out in that the seller was willing to ship the car and rather than fly a few states over, i simply purchased sight unseen. No flaming necessary. I have weeks to work from home and work on the car. The car arrived and i have since ordered a plethora of goodies to start digging into it. Without further adieu, here are some pics:
Starting with the front. I have yet to watch, but pretty sure the passenger wiper motor is shot as it is parked on the outside of the headlight. The wipers themselves are also toast. I am undecided if I will be replacing the motor or removing and installing blanks yet.
The car has plenty of dings and chips as well as rust, however it is scheduled to go into a local hot rod body shop for metal replacement and dent removal in a couple weeks. The shop will be respraying in the factory color (Titanium).
I also need to order some brackets for the front bumper so I can lose this drywall screw a PO used…
The interior is decent, but needing some touch up on the center console and I have leatherique on the way to clean and condition the seats. I also already have SEM graphite paint, adhesion promoter and top coat so i can respray the center console.
The dipstick popped out but the car recently had the PCV system gone through. I need to perform a test on it, so in the meantime i simply ordered new O-rings for the dipstick to hopefully allow it to seal better.
The car had a code P2111 and was in reduced performance mode. I reset and the code kept coming back after driving. I pulled the throttle body and it was pretty gummed up. However, the gears looked fine. I ordered a replacement either way just to be safe, as the part number on the tb looked to be a less expensive option i found on Amazon.
Here is the t body on Amazon, same part number listed on the current unit. I cleaned it but decided to go Bosch:
I will give the engine bay a good cleaning this week prior to intalling the replacement Bosch TB. Currently it is pretty filthy:
As I was waiting for parts, I thought it best to get a virtual machine created for VIDA, so that is ready for the DICE unit to arrive today. Unfortunately I have the battery disconnected while the throttle body is on its way here.
Finally, the EST dp arrived today to replace the cracked OEM dp:
I look forward to everyone’s input and help getting this V back in shape. Cheers and be safe out there!
