Rapid KL bus service provider, Rapid Bus together with the Selangor public works department (JKR) has announced the extended operating hours of the Jalan Ampang bus lane.
In its statement, Rapid Bus announced that the new operating hours will be from 4:30pm to 7pm from Monday to Friday, and this will take effect on Monday, May 19, 2025.
This will apply to the 0.62 km stretch of the bus lane that goes from the intersection of Jalan Memanda 1 to the intersection of Jalan Memanda 9, as well as from the intersection of Jalan Cengal to the traffic light-controlled intersection of Jalan Wawasan Ampang.
The extended operating hours for the bus lane is expected to benefit bus passengers on key routes including route 300 from the Pandan Indah hub to Lebuh Ampang, route 303 from Hentian Mulia Jaya to Lebuh Ampang, as well as feeder bus routes from Pandan Indah, Bukit Indah, Mulia Jaya and Lembah Jaya, Rapid Bus stated.
Rapid Bus stated that the Jalan Ampang bus lane has been well-received by the public, with ridership on the route seeing daily numbers grow from 12,819 passengers to 14,424 passengers, or 12.52% since its introduction on July 3, 2023. Travel times for passengers on this route have also been reduced by between 10 to 15 minutes, the firm said.
Rapid Bus is confident that the time savings enabled through this initiative will continue to attract more users towards public transport, said Rapid Bus deputy CEO Ku Jamil Zakaria.
Evaluation of this initiative on these routes will be carried out over a period of three months by Rapid Bus as well as by JKR, the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) and the ministry of transport, covering aspects including travel times, speeds of commercial buses, road safety and traffic congestion on these routes.
Separately, the Rapid KL On-Demand van service has expanded to serve six new zones, including KTM Rawang, Setia Alam, Sg Way, Batu Caves, and the expanded reach of its service has commenced this week.
