The 1500 TRX is making a comeback with V8-power

- The Ram 1500 TRX is officially returning and it could arrive as early as next year.
- The updated truck could have a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with at least 702 hp.
- Stellantis’ CEO said the upcoming Charger Sixpack will appeal to Dodge enthusiasts.
Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa has confirmed the Ram 1500 TRX is returning. This had been expected, but it’s finally official.
Speaking during the company’s second quarter earnings call, Filosa said their number one priority is to grow their business in North America. In order to do this, the company will launch new products and try to increase sales.

While that’s pretty boilerplate stuff, the executive specifically mentioned “the V8 engine, on versions such as the Ram 1500 TRX, will deliver to us additional volumes.” That effectively confirms the truck is returning with V8 power.
Little is known about the model at this point, but previous reports have suggested production could begin in January of 2026. It will follow in the footsteps of the facelifted 1500 and presumably have a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with at least 702 hp (523 kW / 712 PS) and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque. However, if Dodge wants to best the F-150 Raptor R, they’ll have to exceed 720 hp (537 kW / 730 PS).
Speaking of engines, Filosa said powertrains that have been discontinued are “coming back, starting with the legendary Hemi V8.” This suggests other engines, besides the 5.7-liter V8, are primed for a return.
The executive also noted the Trump Administration has provided them with “more flexibility” in deciding the right mix between electric and ICE-powered vehicles. He said this means “a lot of additional profit and also volumes that are much closer to … customer demand.”
Filosa went on to say the 2026 Jeep Cherokee is “much improved” over its predecessor and the Charger Sixpack is “critical to reinvigorating our strong connection with the incredible community of Dodge enthusiasts.” He also teased “much more is coming.”
