Bugatti has unveiled Programme Solitaire, a new pinnacle of coachbuilt automotive design that pushes exclusivity and personalisation to unprecedented levels. Rooted in over a century of Bugatti’s artistic legacy—from the elegant lines of Jean Bugatti’s designs to Rembrandt Bugatti’s sculptural mastery—Solitaire is a bold return to bespoke craftsmanship. It surpasses even Bugatti’s Sur Mesure program, offering clients the chance to commission truly unique, one-of-one vehicles.
The inaugural creation is Brouillard, a dramatic, sculptural coupé named after Ettore Bugatti’s favourite horse, a thoroughbred celebrated for its beauty, power, and grace. Ettore’s deep connection with the animal, capable of opening its own stable door via a mechanism he designed, inspired the vehicle’s fluid, muscular design—abandoning sharp lines in favour of reflection-driven surfaces that evoke the form of a powerful, trained horse.

Built on Bugatti’s 1,578hp W16 platform, Brouillard represents the final and most advanced evolution of the iconic quad-turbocharged engine. Every surface is functional and intentional—from precision-shaped air intakes and a fixed ducktail wing to an innovative rear diffuser that optimises aerodynamic balance and cooling.

Inside, the craftsmanship is nothing short of obsessive. Custom-woven Parisian tartan fabrics, green-tinted carbon fibre, and extensive machined aluminium define a cabin that feels more like haute couture than hypercar.

A transparent roof reveals the continuous spine that flows from exterior to interior. Embroidered horse motifs and a gear shifter carved from a single block of aluminium—housing a glass-encased miniature of Brouillard—cement this vehicle as a work of rolling art.

Commissioned by a passionate collector of Bugatti automobiles and family artefacts—including pieces by Carlo and Rembrandt Bugatti—Brouillard is a deliberate celebration of Ettore’s design ethos and his personal obsession with equine elegance.

Programme Solitaire will be limited to just two vehicles per year, each utilising existing Bugatti powertrains and chassis but allowing for total creative freedom in bodywork and interior execution. With Brouillard, Bugatti reasserts its position not just as a maker of hyper sports cars—but as a sculptor of legends.
Brouillard will debut at Monterey Car Week.
