Porsche Penske secures one-two sweep at Laguna Seca

Porsche Penske Motorsport extended its perfect start to the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with another one-two finish at Laguna Seca on Sunday, while AO Racing’s pink “Roxy” 911 GT3 R took top honors in the GTD Pro class.

In a caution-free 2-hour, 40-minute showdown beneath clear California skies, Matt Campbell (Australia) and Mathieu Jaminet (France) edged their sister car—driven by Felipe Nasr (Brazil) and Nick Tandy (Great Britain)—by less than two seconds at the finish. The result marks Campbell and Jaminet’s first victory of the year and Porsche Penske’s fourth consecutive overall win, moving them further ahead in the manufacturers’, teams’, and drivers’ standings.

The race began with both 963 prototypes settling into second and third on the grid. Nasr quickly dispatched the field before contact forced the No. 6 car into an early pit stop. From there, the two Porsches traded laps at the front, holding off a late charge from a BMW that ultimately ran wide into the gravel on the final lap. “Challenging moments and close calls made it a tough day,” said Jonathan Diuguid, managing director of Porsche Penske Motorsport. “But our team delivered a flawless performance under pressure.”

In GTD Pro, former Porsche Juniors Laurin Heinrich and Klaus Bachler powered the AO Racing 911 GT3 R “Roxy” to its second win of the season, mirroring last year’s success of its green sister car “Rexy.” Their 8.66-second margin of victory vaulted them atop the GTD Pro driver standings and helped Porsche secure the lead in the class manufacturers’ points.

Customer squad JDC-Miller MotorSports finished ninth in the GTP ranks, while Wright Motorsports placed sixth in GTD after a mid-race penalty. The championship now pauses before heading to the streets of Detroit for round five on May 31.
