Peugeot 5008 Review (2025)

Posted on July 22, 2025 By rehan.rafique No Comments on Peugeot 5008 Review (2025)

Read Caroline’s Peugeot 5008 review for everything you need to know about buying Peugeot’s popular seven-seat SUV in Ireland.

The Peugeot 5008 has long been a favourite among Irish families looking for a stylish and practical seven-seater SUV.

With the arrival of the 2025 Peugeot 5008, the brand has dialled up the interior design, modernised the powertrain line-up with new electric and hybrid options, and given the 5008 a bold new look that’s sure to grab attention.

Peugeot Ireland has also made the brave move to price both the hybrid and electric the exact same – from €50,995 – and the new 5008 starts to look like one of the best value seven-seaters on sale.

Let’s take a closer look.

Design

The new 5008 builds on Peugeot’s recent design renaissance, first seen in the sleek new Peugeot 3008. The 5008 is larger and has a more traditional SUV look to accommodate the extra two seats in the very back and even space for a few bags. It’s definitely still one of the most stylish seven-seaters with lots of French flair. At the front, a bold frameless grille is flanked by Peugeot’s now-signature ‘tri-claw’ LED daytime running lights, giving it a strong road presence.

Buyers can choose between Allure and GT specifications, both of which come generously equipped. The standard wheel size is 19-inch, while the GT trim brings a sportier finish with gloss black exterior accents and Peugeot’s new lion shield logo on each side. There is a classy palette of colours including Titan Grey and Obsession Blue.

Peugeot 5008 Interior

Step inside the new 5008 and you’re met with one of the most distinctive and premium cabins in the segment. Peugeot has gone all-out to make the driver feel cocooned and in command. The dashboard wraps around you, with high-quality materials, soft-touch surfaces and bold design flourishes setting an upmarket tone.

There’s been a serious tech upgrade, like the new 21-inch curved panoramic display that integrates the digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen into one seamless unit. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard. There’s also a wireless smartphone charger, multiple USB-C ports and generous storage dotted around the cabin.

Peugeot’s trademark i-Cockpit layout remains, featuring a compact steering wheel with the digital cluster positioned above it. It can take a little getting used to, but you might end up loving the sportier feel.

Controls for climate and media are accessed via the touchscreen, which may not suit everyone, but Peugeot’s clever iToggle shortcut buttons let you customise quick-access functions to suit your needs.

Practicality

The 5008 comes with seven seats as standard, making it ideal for families. The second row slides 60:40 while the back rests can be folded down individually.

One slight disappointment is that Peugeot has removed the previous version’s three individual seats with Isofix. Now, there are only two Isofix points on the outer seats in the middle row, which may be limiting for families with multiple child seats.

The third row is best reserved for children or occasional adult use, but it’s more than acceptable for short journeys. With all seats in place, boot space is still enough for a few bags or shopping, and folding down the third row opens up even more. Peugeot has also thoughtfully created an underfloor storage area that hides the parcel shelf and charging cables.

Performance & Driving Experience

Underpinning the new 5008 is a fresh platform that enables mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrains. While the diesel option is no longer offered, Peugeot has made sure the alternatives are compelling.

The electric E-5008 for instance comes with a 73kWh battery and offers up to 502 km of range (WLTP) — enough for most weekly driving needs. A long-range version (expected to top 600 km) and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant are both on the way, promising even more flexibility and performance.

In terms of feel, the electric version delivers the smooth, quiet and refined drive you’d expect. With 210hp, it’s more powerful than the mild hybrid (136hp), but it also weighs more. Acceleration is adequate, with a 0–100 km/h time of 9.7 seconds, but that’s not really the point here. The 5008 is at its best when driven calmly, when you can enjoy the relaxing ambience.

That said, the ride is on the firmer side. It’s not uncomfortable, but it’s noticeable over poor road surfaces. Otherwise it feels well planted on the road and handles with confidence. It’s easy to manoeuvre and park as well.

Charging

Charging speeds are good, if not class-leading. Peugeot includes 11kW AC charging as standard, and DC fast charging up to 160kW. A 20–80% charge can be completed in around 30 minutes, although some rivals quote quicker 10–80% figures.

During our test drive in warm summer conditions, I averaged between 15-16kWh/100km, which is decent for a vehicle of this size. Expect energy use to rise in colder weather or on longer motorway runs.

Peugeot 5008 Pricing

Peugeot Ireland has adopted an interesting strategy by pricing the hybrid and electric models identically.

  • Allure trim starts at €50,995

  • GT trim starts at €54,995

Is the Peugeot 5008 a good car?

The Peugeot 5008 continues to hit all the right notes for family buyers in Ireland. With a stylish new design, a beautifully crafted interior and practical seating for seven, it’s still one of the most compelling family SUVs on sale right now.

The addition of electric and hybrid powertrains only strengthens its appeal. It may lack some of the previous model’s child seat versatility, but that’s a minor quibble in what is otherwise a desirable, well-rounded package.

For buyers after a family-friendly SUV that offers style, sophistication and electrified performance, the new Peugeot 5008 is a tough one to beat.
