Ferrari’s historical icon is a highly collectible classic.

Ferrari is known for decades worth of incredible supercars, with a long history of racing and high-peformance machines complete with some of the greatest beauty, style, and luxury in the automotive industry. While the V12 engine is the most revered in Ferrari’s portfolio, and many of its supercars also boast the power of V8 engines, Ferrari is also pushing the boundaries of performance with V6 powertrains. With the help of twin-turbocharging and hybrid assistance, cars like the Ferrari 296 and the new halo hypercar, the Ferrari F80, boast incredible performance and power.

However, Ferrari originally used V6 engines decades ago, albeit under a different brand name: Dino. Named after Enzo Ferrari’s son, who was nicknamed Dino and designed the V6 engine in the Dino cars, the Dino nameplate offered beautiful, luxurious sports cars powered by mid-mounted V6 engines. In its time, those V6 engines offered robust performance and made for enjoyable driving, and the Dino Ferraris were also the first roadgoing production Ferraris to be mid-engined, as well as the first Ferraris to be produced in large quantities.

The first roadgoing Dino was the 206, powered by a 2.0-liter V6, which was succeeded by the 246, with a bigger 2.4-liter engine. After that, Dino also launched a V8-powered car, the 208/308, which was the first V8-powered Ferrari. It would take decades for Ferrari to return to making V6 cars, and because its previous V6 vehicles were under the Dino name, the current Ferrari 296 is the first Ferrari-badged V6 roadgoing car.

However, because of the Dino cars’ classic charm, and their increasing influence on Ferrari’s history and innovations of today, the Dino cars continue to accrue more collectibility and prestige as the years go on. If you’re looking for a Dino Ferrari for sale, duPont REGISTRY, the source for supercars since 1985, is the place to look. Your dream Ferrari Dino for sale might be below, and you can click the button to see all the Ferrari Dino cars for sale on duPont REGISTRY.

Is the Ferrari Dino the first Ferrari V6?

Yes and no. The 1967 Dino 206 GT was Ferrari’s first roadgoing V6, but because it was sold under the Dino name, the first V6 car with the Ferrari name was technically the Ferrari 296 GTB.

Where does the name Dino come from?

Enzo Ferrari’s son, Alfredo, was nicknamed “Dino.” He designed the V6 that powered the first Dino cars, and tragically passed away at only 24. To honor him, Ferrari’s sub-brand was then named Dino.

Is a Ferrari Dino a good investment?

As the years go by, the Ferrari Dino continues to gain acclaim as a classic collector-grade car, and it can be a good investment if kept properly.
