Lando Norris claimed victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix, fending off a late charge from his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri. Norris’s one-stop strategy proved decisive, giving him the edge over both Piastri and early race leader Charles Leclerc, who were on two-stop strategies.

Leclerc started from pole and led the early stages, but as the race progressed, Norris’s alternative strategy brought him into contention. Piastri emerged as the main challenger in the final laps, closing in rapidly but ultimately finishing just 0.698 seconds behind. The result narrows Piastri’s lead in the Drivers’ Championship to nine points heading into the summer break.
George Russell secured third for Mercedes after passing a fading Leclerc, who finished fourth and received a five-second penalty for erratic driving. Fernando Alonso took fifth for Aston Martin, with teammate Lance Stroll finishing seventh, split by rookie Gabriel Bortoleto in sixth for Kick Sauber.

Liam Lawson finished eighth for Racing Bulls, while Max Verstappen had a challenging race but salvaged ninth. Kimi Antonelli rounded out the top ten for Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton ended a tough race in 12th, behind Isack Hadjar.
Further down, Nico Hulkenberg was 13th, followed by Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon. Esteban Ocon was 16th, Yuki Tsunoda 17th, and Alpine’s Franco Colapinto and Pierre Gasly completed the classified runners. Gasly was handed a 10-second penalty for a collision with Sainz. Ollie Bearman retired due to damage.
