The B10 small SUV will join the C10 mid-sizer soon, but also expect a large SUV offering from China’s Leapmotor.
Leapmotor Australia will expand its product portfolio in the next few years to cover up 70 per cent of the market, meaning a large SUV is likely to join the already-on-sale C10 mid-sizer and incoming B10.
Speaking to local media, Leapmotor Australia CEO Andy Hoang said the brand will count at least six models in its stable by the end of 2027, broadening its appeal.
“In the immediate future, our plan is to have a range of SUVs that will cover probably 60-70 per cent of the marketplace because we think that’s what Australians are looking for,” Hoang said.
“And on top of that, you look at our demand for BEV [battery electric vehicle] versus our demand for plug-in hybrids, and that’s why the REEV [range-extender electric vehicle] for us is something we fought really strong to bring here because we think this is what Australians want.”

Leapmotor International, a joint-venture between the Chinese car brand and Stellantis conglomerate wherein the former controls distribution in its home market and the latter is responsible for other countries, counts a long list of models in its portfolio.
However, Leapmotor Australia’s product rollout began late last year with the C10 BEV, now joined by the REEV version due in showrooms imminently.
The brand has also already approved the B10 small SUV – a rival to the likes of the BYD Atto 3 – for Australian consumption, to come with BEV and REEV options like the C10.
Overseas versions make use of either a 56.2kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery for a 510km driving range rating on the CLTC procedure, or a 67.1kWh battery that boosts range to 600km.

Regardless of battery size, all B10s feature a single, rear-drive electric motor delivering 132kW/175Nm in the smaller battery or 160kW/240Nm in the larger battery.
With a mid-size and small SUV, it would not give Leapmotor enough coverage of the overall Australian market, meaning to hit its goals it would also need a large SUV.
Overseas, Leapmotor already has a large SUV in the form of the C16, but given the brand’s timeline, this car could be at least 12 months away from Australia.
“We’ve got other products locked away, but we are not in a position to announce yet,” Hoang said.

“They’re all things we’re looking at.
“From our perspective, we’re here for the long term, so in terms of the product, we’re working day and night to ensure that we’ve got the right plan for Australia.”
What isn’t on the table however is the T03, a cut-price all-electric hatchback that is offered in China and Europe for as little as the equivalent of around $AU18,000.
Hoang explained the brand is selective with what products to bring to certain markets to maximise the brand’s impact and success.
“T03, for Europe, that’s something that we haven’t brought over to Australia because our data suggest that our growth is in SUV,” Hoang said.

Leapmotor International CEO Tianshu Xin echoed Hoang’s point, saying there simply isn’t enough volume in Australia for an all-electric city-sized hatchback.
“Why we introduced T03 in Europe and not Australia? Because the segment A size in Europe is huge, it is 22 million,” Xin said.
“Stellantis has 50 per cent of the market share, so from a customer demand perspective, it’s always there.
“That’s why when we select what product to enter in which market, the T03 is a perfect product fro the European market to address that empty space and customer needs. For Australia, it’s the same, every market is the same.
“When selecting which product to bring into the market, the first thing you need to look at is the customer needs.”
