New Lawn Signs Promote Heat Pump Adoption

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Heat pump manufacturer Quilt Systems Inc. has unveiled a grassroots campaign designed to put the heat pump front and center. The company’s new lawn signs give homeowners and HVAC professionals a way to display their role in accelerating electrification, no matter which manufacturer’s system is installed.

During the first 11 months of 2024, heat pump sales exceeded furnace sales in the U.S. by 37%, according to the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI). Heat pumps are efficient, more climate-friendly, and capable of keeping homes comfortable year-round, a press release from Quilt said. Yet unlike solar panels or electronic vehicles, they’re usually tucked away out of sight.

Inspired by the familiar yard signs that follow landscaping jobs and solar panel installations, these signs are a nod to the less obvious upgrades transforming homes across the country. Quilt is providing the signs for free to every Quilt certified partner, and those companies can offer them to any homeowner with a new heat pump, regardless of brand.

“Electrification is not a zero-sum game. Every time a furnace is replaced with a heat pump, we move closer to a clean-energy future,” said Paul Lambert, co-founder and CEO of Quilt. “This campaign is about celebrating that progress and the skilled installation partners who make it happen every day, no matter what system they’re putting in. Every install is a step toward healthier homes, better comfort, lower emissions, and a stronger industry.”

“Heat pumps are one of the most impactful upgrades you can make for comfort, savings, and the planet — but they’ve been hiding in plain sight”, said Lizz Niemeyer, vice president of marketing at Quilt. “We wanted to change that, with a campaign that sparks conversation and celebrates every installation, no matter the brand.”

The signs are available in multiple designs.

“The signs are intentionally playful and a little unexpected — a retro wink that dovetails with Quilt’s clean, modern design,” said Audrey Nieh, Quilt’s creative director. “We tapped into a familiar Americana aesthetic to spark curiosity and invite everyone into the conversation about climate tech. It’s a nod to nostalgia, but with a purpose: to make the humble heat pump something worth showing off, and to remind people that clean energy is for everyone.”
