Nearly 45 Percent of Chevrolet's Nationwide Live C8 Corvette Inventory are Z06s

C8 Corvette owners are experts in the laws of supply and demand. After all, it seems like we have to deal with it every time a new Corvette model is released. When they first hit the market, both the Stingray and Z06 models were highly sought after with buyers willing to pay thousands over just to be among the first to experience it. Then a few years go by, and dealers are offering those same Corvette models discounted by thousands.

Today, we checked in with the Chevrolet Live Inventory Tracker and while the total inventory is down once again following the two week closure of the Corvette Assembly Plant for the annual summer break, the percentage of available Z06s on dealer lots appears to be increasing. Today we found total of 3,549 Corvettes on Chevrolet’s Live Inventory Tracker. Not all are available, but a great majority are. The Z06 Corvette stands with 1,592 units on the tracker, and that makes up 44.8% of the total. There are 1,115 Stingrays for 31.4%, and there are 842 E-Rays for 23.7%.

Last month showed more Z06s on the ground with 1,720, but the overall percentage of the nationwide inventory being Z06s was at 42%

To really see how the inventories were affecting dealers, we checked in with the Top 10 Dealers and found a massive supply of 2025 Corvette Z06s available at most. Stingray Chevrolet in Plant City Florida just has one new Z06 in stock, while Coughlin Chevrolet was showing three. The rest of the Top Corvette dealers all have double-digit inventories and these are all being discounted as well.

• MacMulkin Corvette – 91

• Ciocca Corvette – 37

• Criswell Chevrolet – 14

• Bomnin Dadeland – 34

• Les Stanford Chevrolet – 16

• Classic Chevrolet (Grapevine) – 21

• Stonebriar Chevrolet – 13

• Don Mealey Chevrolet – 19

• Bomnin West Kendall – 40

We’ve officially reached that moment where shopping or a Z06 has turned into a buyer’s market. However, I believe this inventory situation to be a little more dire than normal. Unlike the model year rollovers from 2024 to 2025 where the only things that changed were colors and new wheels, the jump from 2025 to 2026 will be much greater with the major interior updates that are coming with the new model year.

Other factors impacting these Z06 sales is that buyers no longer have limited choices when it comes to the Corvette. The All-Wheel Drive Corvette E-Ray offers similar (superior?) performance on the streets at approximately $10K less than the Z06. And then you have the new hot 1,064-hp ZR1 and the upcoming ZR1X on the higher end of the model line up which may be causing some to wait on a Z06 if they can move up to one of those specific supercars.

For dealers, their biggest issue is probably the cost of these Z06s against their floorplan as they have to finance these cars until they are purchased. And these aren’t $60K, $75K Stingrays as the cost of some of these Z06s is upwards of $160,000. Looking again at MacMulkin’s inventory, there isn’t one 1LZ trim model available. They ordered 2LZ and 3LZ for their dealer stock cars.

Let’s not also forget what the market has been doing. GM Released the 2nd Quarter sales results for the Corvette on July 2nd, and the sales report was one of the lowest in the C8 era with just 5,801 new Corvettes delivered to new customers. This was a 37.9% decline in sales from the same time period in 2024.

I had ordered my 2025 Corvette E-Ray new from the dealer last year as it was my dream car and the first new Corvette I ever ordered, so I’m glad that I went through that process and probably wouldn’t change that. But having gone through that process once, as a second-time buyer I would be looking at the Chevrolet Live Inventory Tracker to find a Corvette ready to go and offered at a discount. If you want an even better deal, look for a Certified Pre-Owned Z06 which also comes with a full check of the car, an additional warranty period, and two included service visits.

Now we just need Chevrolet to kick a few incentives our way once again and help dealers clean up this mess that over-production has created once again.
