Dietitian (RD, LD) | Health & Wellness Advocate
From the heart of Ghana to the halls of healthcare leadership, Nana Ama Dwamena’s story is one of bold steps, purpose-driven ambition, and an unrelenting desire to make a difference. Raised in a culture where community matters, Nana Ama always knew that her voice carried power — not for praise, but for impact. Her journey began at the University of Ghana, Legon, where she pursued her academic dreams and simultaneously honed her skills as a leader and changemaker. While studying, she served as General Secretary of the University of Ghana Allied Health Students’ Association, where she wasn’t just a representative—she was a catalyst. She listened, spoke, organized, and led, shaping conversations that mattered to students across campus. She understood early that leadership wasn’t about titles—it was about lifting others up and standing in the gap when no one else would. It was in the classrooms and clinics of Ghana’s top medical institutions that Nana Ama’s dedication to health took root. As a student dietitian, she trained across renowned facilities such as the 37 Military Hospital, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, University of Ghana Hospital, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research – Food Research Institute, and FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital. These experiences gave her a firm grounding in clinical practice, but more importantly, they exposed her to the deep challenges ordinary Ghanaians faced when navigating nutrition and wellness. She realized that while science held the answers, those answers weren’t always reaching the people who needed them most. So, she chose a different path—one that merged her scientific knowledge with storytelling and digital media. Nana Ama turned to social platforms not for fame, but for purpose. Through relatable videos, culturally sensitive nutrition advice, and meal-planning tips rooted in local food systems, she made healthy living feel less like a privilege and more like a right. Her audience grew, not because of gimmicks, but because of trust. People saw her not only as a skilled dietitian but as a sister, a teacher, and a guide who understood their daily realities.

But Nana Ama’s brilliance stretches beyond the screen and into the fabric of community entrepreneurship and volunteerism. She is the founder of Donna Jewellery and Accessories, a growing business that reflects her love for beauty, craftsmanship, and creativity. Even in business, her values shine—integrity, authenticity, and an eye for empowerment. Her entrepreneurial journey runs parallel with her role as Head of Medical Volunteers for TODA Africa, where she helps coordinate essential healthcare outreach for underserved communities across Ghana. She is also a core member of Kingdom Ambassadors Organization, staying rooted in service and faith.

Currently, Nana Ama serves as the Acting Head of the Dietherapy Unit at FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital, a position that speaks to both her professional excellence and her leadership evolution. Every day, she blends clinical precision with compassion, ensuring that every patient she meets feels seen, heard, and cared for.

Her interests are as multifaceted as her impact. From women’s empowerment to commercial modeling, from interior décor to music, Nana Ama is a woman who wears many hats with grace. She is proof that you don’t have to choose between science and creativity, compassion and strength—you can be all of it, fully and unapologetically.

For the next generation looking up to her, Nana Ama’s life is a living message: you don’t need a perfect plan to start—you just need purpose. You don’t need to wait for a seat at the table—you can build your own. Whether she’s mentoring students, creating content, or changing lives one plate at a time, she walks with a quiet, unshakable fire that says, “I was born to make a difference.” And every step she takes proves that she is doing just that.
