That was about it for the first year and then the ancient tires that were on the car started to fail so I bought new ones and had the wheels powder coated. I’m still not happy with the black color on the wheels but the goal has always been to put different wheels on the car. I swapped to an R manifold along the way as well because i had an exhaust leak from dropping the engine. Not loving it but I’ve got a japanifold and a nicer angle flange 16t sitting in a box waiting to go on.
In 2022 I hit some black ice and put the car into a tree. That’s where my project stalled for a long time. I slowly accumulated parts while life happened around the car and then in 2024, I decided I needed to drive the car again by my birthday. This was the goal that pushed me to get it roadworthy again and get rid of my Focus ST (I hated that car). during the process of getting the car running and driving again I installed a set of 850R front seats and a full set of 99+ carpets since they don’t fade like the pre 98 carpets do. H&R lowering springs and B4s went on during this too.
After all this work and a different set of wheels I discovered that the rear end had a horrible clunk and the tires were rubbing something awful, so I decided to put in the C70 delta links and sway bar I had stashed for use later. This led to also doing E-brake cables since mine were seized on both sides. Even after all new bushings in the rear of the car I still had a clunk, so I replaced the rear shock mounts and that helped a lot but didn’t eliminate the clunk. At this point I’m wondering if it may be something I have in the back of the car making that noise, but I’ve checked that everything is strapped down so my next idea is to just take everything out of the back of the car and see what happens.
I will add pictures once i can get them uploaded to my computer. Also, I’m still looking for a turquoise metallic passenger fender if anyone has one for sale.
