Hi everyone!
I recently had the pleasure of getting my dream car, a ’25 BMW M3 Competition xDrive in the individual Grigio Telesto Pearl with Fiona Red interior. I wanted to take a brief moment to travel down memory lane and reflect on my journey here through the great BMWs I’ve had in the past fourteen years, starting with the ’08 135i.
I always loved manual transmission sports cars growing up. My eyes were set on the JDM market initially. This included cars like the Civic Si, STI, and Evo 8/9. The Evo was by far my favorite. The idea of having a 500 horsepower all wheel drive car was a dream of mine and my brief experience driving a full bolt-on Evo 8 RS at the age of sixteen was breathtaking.
The feeling of the big turbo kicking in and throwing me back into my seat, the lovely Recaro bucket seats holding me tightly and comfortably, and the stage one clutch engaging like a true sports car made the experience perfect.
Around this time my older brother purchased a 135i, and in his typical fashion, the car was built like a champion. From the wheels, the suspension, and an ethanol tune, it was a beautiful looking and sounding car with a lot of power and character. This then inspired me with my first BMW to have an identical setup.
It seemed perfect… the comfort and class of a BMW with all the performance you could ever want. My 135i gave me many amazing memories during a five year period and it was a truly special car. It had full bolt-ons and was a pure turbo kit away from being perfect.
This then lead me to my next car, the ’11 E90 M3 DCT. I didn’t want the DCT at the time but the car was too nice to pass on. It was Alpine White with the red/black two interior and competition package. It also received the full bolt-on and race fuel treatment. With the M performance exhaust and test pipes it sounded perfect.
It was comfortable, spacious, and a blast to drive. I did regret selling this car during the first few weeks of buying my next BMW. The steering feel, engine sounds, comfort and elegance of the interior and exterior made it the car I wish I kept and the BEST BMW I have owned until now. I would’ve traded my M2 back for it in a heartbeat.
Although it was a step up from my 135i, I found myself wanting something a little bit more at the time. I always daydreamed about the 1M. I wasn’t ready to fully give up my manual transmission just yet. Two years later I purchased the ’17 Performance Edition M2 with the manual transmission. Before owning the M2, I thought it would’ve been a much better car than my E90 M3.
It had the lightweight body, torque, and all the tech/engineering you’d want from your BMW M car. All of this was true, and I did enjoy my eight years with the M2, I constantly found myself missing the E90 M3. I don’t think the M2 was the right M car for me personally, but I did have plenty of great memories with it. It also received the typical full bolt-on treatment with E85, coil overs, and wheels.
Now I FINALLY have my dream car! It is a ’25 M3 Competition xDrive in the individual Grigio Telesto Pearl finish. I LOVE this car. I do have very small complaints about it here and there which is to be expected (no car is perfect), but this car is just something else. It is everything I could ask for from BMW M.
From the technology, comfort, daily driver livability, and performance, it is all around a 10/10 and worth every single penny. I always drove incredible cars, but a part of me would see other BMWs and wish for them to be mine one day… now I have my DREAM BMW and I couldn’t be happier.
Cheers!
