Porsche Malaysia, represented by Sime Darby Auto Performance (Auto Performance), had marked 15 years of Accelerating Dreams with a grand celebration recently. Last 11 – 13 April 2025 at Central Exchange, The Exchange TRX where  Porsche Malaysia also unveiled the latest generation of the iconic 911 (which is in this blog’s previous article), alongside other Porsche sports car models. The anniversary celebration also highlights the marque’s rich racing history and DNA, with mall-goers invited to see the Sime Motors Racing Team 911 GT3 Cup Car currently campaigning the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.

Since its establishment in 2010 by Sime Motors, Porsche Malaysia has grown from strength to strength. From modest beginnings in retail, the company has seen significant sales growth, with the Cayenne and 911 becoming top selling models for Malaysian sports car enthusiasts. Porsche Malaysia’s presence in the country has also grown, from a single dealership at Porsche Centre Glenmarie to four dealerships across the country, including Penang and Johor Bahru.

Here are some of the milestones and activities that Porsche have done in Malaysia.

Pioneering local assembly and the unveiling of the latest CKD Porsche in Malaysia

The growth story of Porsche Malaysia is deeply connected to the success of the

Porsche Cayenne, with the nation assuming the role of a key regional pillar of the

Porsche business. In March 2022, the first Porsche assembly plant outside of Europe

was established, alongside the introduction of the locally assembled Cayenne – a point of pride for the Southeast Asian nation. The locally assembled Cayenne

remains available today (above), with prices starting from RM 599,999.

Later in July 2024, this local assembly facility was expanded with the introduction of

the new Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupé  In addition to knowledge transfer on hybrid powertrains to the 100% Malaysian workforce, this new model was also the first Porsche to be exported from Malaysia to Thailand, marking another significant milestone.

The new Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupé was announced for the Malaysian market in

January 2025 and showcased for the first time to the public at the anniversary event.

Prices for the sporty yet practical SUV start from RM 728,000. (more photos of the new CKD SUV is at the end of this article).

Accelerating e-mobility

Porsche Malaysia also been a leader in e-mobility, establishing a comprehensive

High-Performance Charging network with partner Shell, enabling long-distance,

cross-border electric vehicle (EV) travel possible from Singapore to Thailand, via

Malaysia.

With high performance chargers of up to 360 kW with Shell Recharge, charging a

Taycan from 0 – 80% SoC requires only approximately 20 minutes. Special benefits

such as lower charging tariffs and extended charger reservation times are also

accorded to all Porsche EV owners.

Following the completion of high-performance charging network along the North-

South Highway and the first charging hub established in Genting Highlands, this

comprehensive charging network has been expanded to the East Coast Expressway.

Beyond public facilities, Porsche Malaysia has pioneered and invested in a strong in-

house charging ecosystem, introducing 350 kW DC chargers within its

dealerships—offered as a complimentary service for Porsche EV owners.

To celebrate 15 years of Porsche Malaysia, customers who book a Porsche Taycan

or Macan, will receive an 11-kW Porsche Mobile Charger* with a themed livery to

further enhance the convenience of home charging.

Beyond the standard 8-year battery warranty on all its EVs, Porsche Malaysia also

introduces a new Porsche 360 Financing programme, offering customers greater

flexibility with low monthly commitments, cost-spreading options between 36 to 60

months, and a guaranteed future value for the Taycan and Macan. At the end of the

financing period, customers have the choice to upgrade to a new model, retain

ownership, or explore other flexible options.

The one and always: the latest generation of the 911

In conjunction with Porsche Malaysia’s 15th anniversary, the latest generation of the

911 Carrera takes centre stage. As the benchmark for emotional performance,

German precision engineering, and distilled driving pleasure, the new 911 continues

to push the boundaries of innovation while staying true to its heritage.

The new 911 GTS introduces a revolutionary T-Hybrid system with an electric

exhaust gas turbocharger and an integrated motor, delivering 398 kW (541 PS) and

610 Nm of torque with minimal added weight. The 911 Carrera, retaining its 3.0-litre

twin-turbo boxer engine, now produces 290 kW (394 PS) and accelerates from 0-100

km/h in 4.1 seconds.

The 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera 4 GTS is now available to order in Malaysia, with

prices starting from RM1,430,000 and RM1,890,000, respectively.

Accelerating the motorsport dream

Porsche Malaysia has expressed its rich motorsport DNA via the PETRONAS

Sepang International Circuit, strategically located in the central region.

On the track, Porsche enthusiasts can take part in unique driving experiences and

thrilling motorsport events. In a bid to nurture local talent in Malaysia, the Sime

Motors Racing has actively competed in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA) races

over the years.

The search for new motorsport talent in Malaysia continues in the world of Esports,

as Porsche Malaysia introduces the Porsche Esports Sprint Challenge Malaysia as

an alternative platform for young dreamers to experience motor racing in the virtual

world.

Building a strong community

At the heart of Porsche Malaysia’s journey is a thriving community of fans. From

unforgettable drives to exciting programme experiences, the Porsche community has

played an integral role in shaping the brand’s presence in the country.

One of the pillars of this community is Porsche Club Malaysia. Since the

establishment of Porsche in Malaysia, Porsche Club Malaysia has provided

unwavering support to the Porsche brand, fostering connections among owners and

offering a platform for connection and camaraderie. In the early years, when Porsche

Malaysia first introduced the second-generation Cayenne, many Porsche Club

Malaysia members were amongst the first to own the car.

Through Porsche Club Malaysia and beyond, the Porsche community continues to

be a driving force—united by passion for Porsche

Automobile
