The famous tuner and manufacturer Brabus has extensively modified a Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance. The result: the superlative Brabus 1000 with 1,000 PS and 1,820 Nm.
Brabus is a builder of superlatives and has outdone itself once again by heavily modifying the flagship PHEV Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance, which develops 816 PS and 1,420 Nm thanks to a 4-liter twin-turbo engine producing 612 PS and 850 Nm, combined with a 204 PS and 320 Nm electric motor that drives the rear axle.
To create a true road monster, Brabus spectacularly increased the displacement of the well-known 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 to 4.5 liters by enlarging both the bore and stroke. The piston stroke was increased from 92 to 100 mm, and the bore from 83 to 84 mm. Forged pistons, special connecting rods milled from solid material, and a special crankshaft milled from solid were installed. These measures raised the output by 184 PS, from 612 to 796 PS, and the maximum torque from 850 to 1,250 Nm. However, to avoid overloading other transmission components, the combustion engine’s maximum torque is limited to 1,050 Nm.
The 204 PS and 320 Nm electric motor driving the rear axle remains unchanged. The final result is impressive. Under the red engine cover lies a stable of 1,000 PS and a maximum torque of 1,820 Nm, which Brabus has limited to 1,620 Nm. The 9-speed automatic transmission has been retained, now equipped with carbon-fiber paddles in the Brabus 1000.
The 1,000-PS monster accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in 2.6 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the stock model, and the top speed is limited to 320 kph. It reaches 200 kph in just 9.5 seconds. The standard model weighs 2,120 kg, but Brabus has not disclosed the weight of the 1000; we can expect it to be heavier due to the larger-displacement engine.
The Mercedes-AMG GT already has well-refined aerodynamics, but Brabus additionally offers a carbon fiber aero kit to increase downforce. This consists of a new front spoiler, front grille inserts, dive planes, fender attachments, a rear spoiler, carbon mirror caps, and a rear diffuser. The carbon-fiber diffuser is cut out to make room for the four 76-mm exhaust pipes.
The Brabus 1000 rides on Brabus Monoblock Platinum Edition wheels with 10 spokes—21 inches in the front and 22 inches in the rear—fitted with 305/30 R21 tires at the front and 335/25 R22 at the rear.
Super-luxurious interior
The interior is fully clad in quilted fine leather, while the headliner is covered with black Dinamica microfiber upholstery. The seats and interior door panels are both quilted and perforated in the iconic BRABUS “Shell” pattern. The black leather upholstery is combined with carbon fiber accents on the pedals, center console, dashboard trim, and door handles. The entry panels feature illuminated BRABUS logos that adapt their color to the ambient lighting system.
The base price starts at €530,621, nearly two and a half times more than the stock model, which costs €219,674. And of course, it can be customized to the owner’s desire. At this price, you could also buy high-performance supercars such as the Ferrari SF90 Stradale or Lamborghini Revuelto. However, this Brabus will likely be produced in far fewer units than the SF90 or Revuelto.
