McLaren, The Americas is putting its foot down in the United States with a major new development that signals both growth and commitment to the brand’s largest market. The British supercar maker has officially broken ground on a new state-of-the-art Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) in Baltimore, Maryland, strategically located at Tradepoint Atlantic in the Port of Baltimore. Scheduled to open in late 2026, this facility represents more than just a logistics hub—it’s a $10.5 million investment in the future of McLaren’s North American presence.

Spanning 50,000 square feet on a reclaimed four-acre brownfield site at the former Bethlehem Steel location in Sparrows Point, the VPC will serve as a centralized hub for receiving, accessorizing, and quality-assuring McLaren vehicles before they reach US retailers. The site will also allow for on-site installation of paint protection film and regional accessory packs, enabling McLaren to offer tailored personalization and enhanced quality control directly within the U.S. market.

McLaren’s move isn’t just good news for the company—it’s a win for the local economy as well. The facility is expected to bring at least 20 full-time jobs by 2028, with positions spanning skilled automotive technicians, paint specialists, logistics operators, and management roles. According to Nicolas Brown, President of McLaren, The Americas, the center will help ensure every customer receives a McLaren that meets the brand’s highest standards, while also supporting the creation of well-paid, technically skilled jobs in the community.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore celebrated the announcement, noting that McLaren’s investment “turbocharges” the state’s economic growth strategy, especially in the high-tech manufacturing sector. “This new facility at Tradepoint Atlantic in the Port of Baltimore will turbocharge Maryland’s economic engine,” Moore said, emphasizing the state’s focus on attracting international investment and strengthening industrial development.

Tradepoint Atlantic, which is rapidly transforming the once-industrial Sparrows Point into a major global logistics and supply chain hub, is partnering with McLaren to bring this project to life. Its Managing Director, Kerry Doyle, pointed out that the strategic location along the Eastern Seaboard will allow McLaren to streamline distribution and serve its growing customer base more efficiently.

Construction is expected to last between 14 to 16 months, with contracts already signed and design work well underway. Baltimore County has also stepped up with a $100,000 economic development incentive, helping to push the project toward its targeted opening window in Q3 or Q4 of 2026.

With the US representing McLaren’s most significant global volume market, this new processing center isn’t just a logistical upgrade—it’s a strategic statement. It positions McLaren to deliver an even more refined customer experience while embedding itself more deeply in the American automotive landscape. For fans of the brand and for the community around Sparrows Point, the sound of progress may soon be accompanied by the distinctive roar of a McLaren V8.
