  • Manthey-Racing has a new upgrade package for the 991-generation 911 GT2 RS
  • The upgrades focus on the aerodynamics and chassis, rather than the powertrain
  • Manthey has also launched a similar upgrade package for the 992-generation 911 GT3 RS

The 991-generation Porsche 911 GT2 RS, offered from 2018-2020, is already among the fastest production cars around a racetrack, but there are still owners who want it to be faster.

Companies like Manthey-Racing are ready to deliver, having announced a new upgrade package for the car that focuses on aerodynamic and chassis improvements.

Known as the Manthey Kit, it can be ordered in the U.S. from Manthey-certified Porsche dealerships and costs $113,140, excluding taxes and installation. When installing the kit through the dealership, the factory warranty remains unaffected.

The kit includes the lightweight magnesium wheels from the GT2 RS’s Weissach Package, which feature aerodiscs on the rear wheels. The wheels, which measure 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear and are available in a variety of colors, help save a combined 25 pounds of unsprung mass.

These are joined by additional flaps for the front spoiler, new carbon-fiber air guides for the underbody, a revised rear diffuser, and a new rear wing. The changes increase downforce on the front axle from 108 to 154 pounds at 124 mph, and downforce on the rear axle from 205 to 440 pounds at the same speed.

Other upgrades include new coilovers developed using experience in racing 911s, new adjustable dampers (three-way adjustment at the front and four-way at the rear), plus stainless steel brake lines.

For the powertrain, an additional water tank for spray-cooling of the intercoolers allows an additional 2.3 gallons to be carried, meaning refills become less frequent. No changes have been made to the powertrain’s output, though. The twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-6 still delivers 700 hp, all of which is channeled to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Manthey Kits are also available for other Porsche models. The U.S. offerings include kits for the 991-generation 911 GT3 RS, the 992-generation 911 GT3, and the 718 Cayman GT4 RS. Manthey has also just launched a new kit for the 992-generation 911 GT3 RS.
