I own a 2019xc60 and was skeptical at first from reading reviews. I bought the car and now I am beyond impressed. Here’s what you need to know:
1. Oil burning or engine problems are not an issue on these cars. The 4cyl engine is a workhorse and the turbo, if you change the oil, wont fail.
2. The transmission is beautiful and bullet proof too (Its Japanese, same brand LExus/Toyota uses, and previous Volvos too).
3. The car batteries last FOREVER. I still have the originals from factory (8 years old and run strong) There’s 2. The small one you can change yourself for 100 bucks. The big car battery in the trunk you take it to the dealer, preferably. For the FOb, don’t get the the Duracell or Energizer from the store. Go online and buy Toshiba or Panasonic.
NOW, for the batteries in the car and on your fob to last you need to lock the car, even in your garage. That’s all. Don’t keep it unlock for long periods.
4. Brakes: they do warp over time -my wife has 42k miles and still fine- mine got bad at 50k. Once this happens, put aftermarkets and forget about it.
5. Roof leaks: Bought my car in rainy season and was concerned, but nothing ever happened. Keep the car clean and if the seal has a gap (rubber shrinkage from parkin in the sun all the time) YOu can buy a piece that blocks the gap so no debris get in, or you can replace the rubber seal.
I was also in the fence between a P3 car and the SPA, but once I drove the SPA I fell in love. It has more electronics but it simplifies things. There is no gas cap and the screens don’t seem to fail (one of my concerns).
Final thought: buy a well cared car, doesn’t matter how many miles. My wife’s s60 was owned by a 80y/o gentleman that always used premium gas and the car runs beautiful. We bough it at Volvo.
My car was owned by a nurse and was always garaged, day and night. But maybe they cheapened out on the gas and once in a while, I get a light on the dash from oxygen sensor, but goes away every time after a couple of days.
ONLY PROBLEM with the car could be the AC, or maybe you will never have an issue.
I watched the whole video you posted, and again, the guy says what people report, but states that THAT particular car never had a single issue.
S60, V60, V60CC or XC60 are all amazing. The T5 is more dependable and reliable. The T6 I would ONLY buy from a Volvo enthusiast.
