In a world where mental health, homelessness, and developmental disabilities remain pressing challenges, Che Jordan has emerged as a trailblazer in empowering communities through servant leadership. As the President and CEO of Ebony House Inc., he has made it his mission to uplift communities, provide critical support for mental health and addiction recovery, and offer hope to those who have lost their way.
His journey wasn’t shaped in boardrooms but in the streets, shelters, and treatment centers where he witnessed firsthand the struggles of homeless individuals and army veterans. Refusing to stand by, Jordan committed himself to reshaping the system, ensuring that care isn’t a privilege but a right for all who need it.
With over a decade of experience in healthcare, Jordan’s leadership has transformed countless lives—but his story is about more than professional success. It’s about resilience, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to serving others. Let’s delve into his inspiring journey.
A Journey Rooted in Purpose
Che Jordan’s career in healthcare began with a deep sense of purpose. Witnessing firsthand the struggles of families, veterans, and homeless individuals battling addiction and mental and behavioral health issues, he was compelled to take action. His experiences instilled in him a sense of humility and responsibility, leading him to advocate for the underserved and work towards real change in rural, urban, and suburban communities.
Serving as COO and CEO in the for-profit sector, as well as Associate Vice President for a non-profit organization, he contributed to developing residential mental health programs, substance use treatment facilities, educational support services, and emergency shelters for at-risk youth. He has also been instrumental in building a strong workplace culture, increasing employee retention, and ensuring families receive the support needed to build resilience.
According to Jordan, leadership is not just about managing people or finances—it is about fostering long-term relationships that ensure people continue to feel supported.
Saving Lives and Restoring Hope
For Jordan, his most significant achievement as a leader is the ability to restore hope to those who have lost faith in the system. He has witnessed countless individuals who once struggled with addiction and felt abandoned by their families completely transform their lives.
One of the most rewarding aspects of his work is seeing someone enter the program feeling hopeless and, after 90 days, emerge as a new person. Many of these individuals rebuild relationships with their children, regain control of their lives, and start advocating for others battling mental health and addiction challenges.
Redefining Recovery with Transformative Solutions
Che Jordan’s vision goes beyond traditional approaches, focusing on breaking the stigma, fostering resilience, and creating safe spaces where individuals can reclaim their lives with dignity. At the heart of this vision is a nationwide initiative to establish a network of community-based substance abuse centers, designed to offer holistic, forward-thinking care.
To bring this vision to life, Ebony House Inc. stands as a testament to transformative care. Under Jordan’s leadership, Ebony House continues to expand its impact, providing a foundation for healing and growth for individuals and families across the community.
Ebony House provides a range of critical services tailored to meet diverse needs of individuals. It offers residential care for men and women battling substance use disorders, providing them with structured, therapeutic environments to support their recovery journey. The organization also runs intensive outpatient programs for individuals managing moderate behavioral health and substance use challenges, ensuring that those who cannot commit to inpatient care still receive support.
For younger individuals, Ebony House provides youth behavioral health services, supporting children from birth to age 17 to help stabilize their behaviors and strengthen social and family connections. Additionally, Ebony House operates an HIV/AIDS and STD Outreach Clinic, offering education and prevention resources for high-risk populations.
Innovating for a Better Future
To Jordan, innovation is about creating new methods and ideas that drive meaningful success. One of his most impactful initiatives has been securing grants for uninsured individuals, ensuring that no one is denied treatment due to financial limitations.
“We bring a strategy, leadership style and care model based on the principles of empathy, thankfulness, and respect. We provide a nurturing atmosphere in which we consistently offer our clients resources and information,” he says.
He has also fostered a culture where clients can connect with alumni to get inspiration, mentorship, and guidance. Many employees at Ebony House have completed the program themselves, making the organization a community of shared experiences and mutual support.
Looking Ahead: Expanding Hope
For Che Jordan, the future is about expanding access, removing barriers, and ensuring that no one is left behind in their journey to recovery. He is looking forward to provide virtual services allowing single parents, working individuals, and those living outside the state to receive care without the burden of leaving their jobs or families. Jordan is also committed to expanding supported housing, increasing the current six-month transitional housing program to nine months, and emergency housing for those with HIV and veterans.
A Lasting Legacy
Che Jordan’s vision is deeply personal. He has met people at their lowest, facing the weight of addiction, isolation, and loss. He has watched them take their first steps toward healing. It is these small victories that drive him forward. As Ebony House grows, Jordan remains committed to the heart of his mission to serve the community.
“True leadership is about serving. Be patient, have humility, be humble and understand all are in one’s way of bringing change to others.”
