On October 6, Bonhams Cars will auction a striking 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss, estimated at €1,500,000 – €2,500,000. This car is the final example in the exclusive 75-car Stirling Moss series and boasts a red-on-red finish.

First revealed at the 2009 North American International Motor Show, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss was a groundbreaking speedster. It also honors Sir Stirling Moss’s legendary win in the 1955 Mille Miglia behind the wheel of a Mercedes 300 SLR.

Production was strictly limited to 75 units and available only to existing SLR McLaren owners. Designed by the renowned Gordon Murray, the Stirling Moss model shed 200 kilograms by removing the windscreen and roof, and adding new carbon fiber body panels.

However, it retained the powerful 5.4-liter supercharged V8 engine, delivering 641 horsepower to the rear wheels. This allowed the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 354 km/h.
