Dodge likes goodbyes. Long goodbyes. The brand isn’t saying goodbye to its Durango SUV next year. But it’s phasing out Hemi V8-powered Durango models. And phasing something out is a marketing opportunity.
Dodge unveiled its fourth special edition goodbye to the V8-powered Durango this week. The 2025 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Brass Monkey features a unique combination of colors and surface materials not available on any other Durango. Dodge says it’s a limited edition but hasn’t specified how many it plans to build.
The Brass Monkey will retail for $115,315 (including a mandatory $1,595 destination fee).
710 Horsepower, Sepia and Brass Theme
Under the hood sits a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 Hemi engine making 710 horsepower. Dodge says it gets from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds — a number that would have seemed unthinkable for a 3-row SUV not long ago. The top speed is limited to 180 mph.
As the name implies, the SUV’s visual theme is brass. It’s painted in a shade called Red Oxide, so dark it’s almost black. The hood is Satin Black and scarcely looks different from the “red” bodywork. It rides on 20-by-10-inch Brass Monkey wheels with a Brass Monkey badge. The brake calipers and exhaust tips are black as well.
Inside, the seats come in a gorgeous brown Laguna leather Dodge calls Sepia, with a suede steering wheel. Silver and sepia stitching throughout adds a bit of flash. The trim inside is “forged carbon fiber” (we have no idea how you forge carbon fiber) with “light black chrome” accents.
Fourth Last Call Model
It’s the fourth “Last Call” special edition this year. The SRT 392 AlcHEMI features a yellow-and-black theme. The R/T 20th Anniversary is black and gray and gives buyers access to a unique track experience at Radford Racing School in Chandler, Arizona. You can probably guess the theme of the Silver Bullet.
As with the Charger and Challenger Last Call editions Dodge released for the 2023 model year, customers won’t be able to order these special Durango models. Instead, they’ll be allocated to dealers, and the “horsepower locator” tool on the DodgeGarage website will tell buyers where to find them.
The Durango will reportedly continue into another model year once these are gone. But high-performance editions will use turbocharged inline-6-cylinder Hurricane engines instead. We do expect a Durango replacement, reportedly resurrecting the Stealth name, within the next few years.
