Lamborghini tells the story of its scandalous green.
Thanks to its Ad Personam customization program, Lamborghini is known for its ability to create stunning cars in a wide library of colors. Over the years, different colors have joined the palette and built a legacy of their own, like the Viola 30th shade of purple that celebrated the 30th anniversary of Lamborghini on an exclusive variant of the Diablo, the SE30, and became one of the most iconic Lamborghini colors. Another color with a story is the bright, striking, popular shade of green, Verde Scandal, which is shrouded in an urban legend.
The story of Verde Scandal goes back to the 1960s, the early days of Lamborghini as a manufacturer, and it specifically surrounds the Miura, one of Lamborghini’s first legendary creations and arguably the first supercar. The story says that a woman came to Lamborghini asking them to adorn a car in a color that the manufacturer didn’t have in its palette yet, and she wanted it to match a dress she was wearing. When the representative from Lamborghini asked for a sample to match the color, she apparently took the dress off and left it there, hence the “scandal” in the color’s name.
Now, Verde Scandal has become one of the most prominent greens in Lamborghini’s color library, recently being showcased on the livery of the Ducati Panigale V4 motorcycle that is inspired by Lamborghini’s new Revuelto flagship. As a striking shade of green with a salacious story behind it, Verde Scandal is one of the most interesting hues Lamborghini is known for, and any car painted in it beautifully shows off Lamborghini’s automotive excellence and Italian flair.
