Lamborghini Revuelto Vs McLaren 765LT Drag Race Is A Riot

One is dramatically faster than the other and how it puts the power down is impressive

Lamborghini Revuelto Vs McLaren 765LT Drag Race Is A Riot

  • Drag Times just raced a new Lamborghini Revuelto against a McLaren 765 LT Spider.
  • Not only did they do a traditional 1/4-mile drag race, but they went through the 1/2 mile as well.
  • It turns out that extra horsepower and all-wheel drive make a huge difference.

The Lamborghini Revuelto is obviously blazingly quick. As the Italian brand’s new flagship, that comes as no surprise. What’s shocking is just how fast it actually is though. This video of it taking on a McLaren 765LT demonstrates the difference between “mere” supercar and hypercar levels of performance.

Let’s get some figures out of the way at the start. The McLaren costs around $500,000, has a twin-turbo V8, and makes 765 horsepower (570 kW). The Lamborghini costs just north of $680,000, uses a 6.5-liter hybrid V12, and makes 1,015 horsepower (756 kW) in total.

That kind of power deficit, plus the fact that the Revuelto is all-wheel drive, is simply too much for the rear-wheel drive British supercar to overcome. That’s evident from the moment the flag drops on this half-mile drag race between the McLaren and the Lambo. The Revuelto pulls out to a quick lead and then never lets the 765LT come back.

In fact, the Lamborghini pulls this trick off in back-to-back races with outstanding performance data. It runs from 0-60 mph in 2.70 seconds. It then finishes the quarter-mile in 9.87 seconds.

Forget a 10-second car, this one is quicker by some measure. Then, it takes the raging bull less than six seconds to go another quarter of a mile, finishing the half-mile in 15.34 seconds. The two supercars then take on roll racing where the Lamborghini’s AWD system won’t be an advantage over the McLaren. Still, the Italian walks away thanks to that extra power.

No doubt, some will point out that this was the heavier convertible version of the McLaren. Brooks, from Drag Times, anticipated that and recorded data from a 765LT Coupe on hand as well. While it did manage a faster half-mile trap speed than the Spider, it maxed out at 174.82 mph. The Revuelto did that or better in seven out of nine runs and maxed out at 177.86.
