Hypercar manufacturer Koenigsegg seems to enjoy setting records. Now Koenigsegg re-takes 0-400-0 km/h record that seems to trade hands pretty regularly between the few automakers that player in this rarefied space.
Our software engineers have been tweaking and adjusting the Light Speed Transmission & Engine Management system and have introduced a new torque control system which manages the grip of the Absolut like never before. That we achieve this level of performance with a production car utilizing a combustion engine with rear wheel drive only – beating all 4-wheel drive electric cars in a straight line is almost magical and show that “truths” can be re-written

New Record Holder
Koenigsegg has reclaimed the 0–400–0 km/h world record for homologated road cars at Örebro airfield on August 7, 2025. Factory test driver Markus Lundh piloted a Jesko Absolut to a new record time of 25,21 seconds. The Swedish has taken the title back from Rimac that recently set a time of 25,79 seconds. Rimac took 2,04 seconds off Koenigsegg’s last record run.
Same Car, New Software
The Jesko Absolut was designed for top speed. It’s own website states: the Jesko Absolut is destined to achieve higher, more extraordinary speeds than any Koenigsegg or any other fully homologated car before it. Its bespoke bodywork hides a twin-turbocharged 5,0-litre V8 producing 955 kW on standard fuel—or an even more outrageous 1 194 when fed with boost-friendly E85. The V8 features the world’s lightest V8 crankshaft, weighing just 12.5 kg
This new record time was made possible by new software dubbed ‘Absolut Overdrive’. In time, this same program will be rolled out to customer cars, so every Jesko Absolut will have the same option… no news on the installation of a Markus Lundh to each car.
